Attention NYC motorcyclists!

Just out of curiosity?
How many of you guys have driven behind bunch of Harley/or other bikes with loud pipes for more than 5 minutes?
How many of you guys where sleeping at the campground just to be woken up at 2:30am by the loud pipes?
How many of you guys got spooked by a loud pipes, while driving in the car?
When people cross the line of decency, morals and inconvenience others, it is the Government's job to protect people.
That is why the signs like "No shoes No service" are created.
That is why "Casual Dining", while cruising at sea on the ship, does not mean shorts, sandals and ripped T-Shirt.
I am against any rules or regulations, but, when someone begins to disrespect others or effect other people's life,
I think that new Law needs to be written and put in effect.
"Loud pipes save lives" Probably Yes/Maybe.
A well behaved and properly trained and educated rider/driver, that has respect for others, will save lives too.

I have been inside pipe hell. Drowns out the music.

What we must remember is that every state has noise ordinances for motor vehicles already. What they don't have is db meters in every police car to collect evidence that will hold up in court, which is what is needed. These laws are an illegal shortcut to prevent the state from having to do it's job, and get police the db meters.

We do not need motorcycle specific laws. Noise is noise, and the number of wheels on the vehicle making the noise should not even be written into a law.

The laws are already on the books, and setting the precedent of passing laws for one class of vehicle (motorcycles) opens the door for a new set of laws, ones that we will NOT like.

I do agree with you 100 percent. Yes, you are absolutely correct and I have no argument about that.
We have plenty of Laws on the books already, but, apparently it is not enough.
I may sound a bit angry, for which I apologize.
We have a Cell Phone Law in Florida, just like in many states of US.
Yesterday my son got rear ended, while at the stop sign, on the brand new (1 week old) F800ST
Thank God my son is OK and was able to get up and walk, but the damage to the bike is substantial.
The idiot that hit him with his big SUV, apparently was on his Cell Phone.
Yes, I can say that police officers do not enforce the law that is already on the books.
Now, if some lobbyist will approach me, soliciting a New Law like "If committing a crime while on the Cell Phone",
I will be the first one to sign that petition. Why? Now WE know how the New Law gets written on the top of the existing Law.
At the end of the day, the Law has effect only for people that do CARE.

I have a '78 Ducati Darmah with Conti straight-through factory exhaust. The noise level is a bit higher than some bikes, less than almost every diesel truck and much, much lower than that coming out of the Screaming Eagle pipes of many American V-Twin machines. The db level is low enough that I was always able to take the bike through NJ inspection in the days when the state ran inspection stations and the inspectors vigorously enforced all the requirements.

Yet since the NYC police don't have any way to measure the db level, without that EPA stamp on my exhaust, I'd risk a very large fine. I grew up in North Jersey and used to spend a lot of time in New York. With silly laws like this one though, I'll be looking for ways to avoid the Big Apple.

And I hope the Iggles break out the whooping stick at Giant's stadium tomorrow!

I don't know about that, but!!!
I would love to see fans going to the stadium wearing Suit and Tie, and a nice Hat, and well polished shiny shoes. Just like the Good Old Times.
I guess I miss OLD AMERICA.
