Anyone ever been or going to Americade?

My friend and I are thinking of going to Americade for a few days in June. It's held in the Lake George area and if anyone has been before would like to hear any tips/reviews/recommendations--types of people bikes etc. I will of course be on my R12R and my friend rides an FJ1300. So if you have any knowledge to impart I'd love to hear it.

I have not attended since moving to Florida in 1997, but used to go every year. It was always a great event for me, well organized and far more professional than anything else I have ever attended motorcycle-wise. It is a place where you can go and hear famous people from the industry speak. Vaughn Beals, the guy who led Harley Davidson when the company bought out AMF, for example, or Bob Carpenter former editor of Motorcycle Consumer News, or the head of design from any of several companies who make tires, lubricants, clothes etc, etc, etc. I sat down and had lunch with a guy who writes for Motorcyclist magazine and later had a lengthy conversation with Dave Despain of TV fame. Met Malcom Forbes there, too, and would have ridden with him and his entourage, but there was a conflict. Another time I met a anthropology professor who was doing a study of motorcyclists and what makes us tick. The area around Lake George is spectacular, so there are opportunities for some great rides. Of course there are all the manufacturers with demos and so on, but that can be had at any major rally. Americade is about the personalities and the area is worth spending time in. There is a lot of history in the area and I particularly recommend that you take a ride up to Fort Ticonderoga at the north end of the lake and then return down the other side so you circle the lake and see one of the most important if not THE most important fort in American History.

have been to Americade about 15x...mixture of Goldwings,Harleys,sportbikes and certainly BMW.I used to stay in Lake George but it has become very crowded. Super riding in the area. The Adirondacks, Catskills & the Green Mountains of Vt.
I now find a room about 20 miles away (less expensive) and commute to Lake George to see the show .I have heard estimates of over 50K bikes on the wk-ends and the traffic becomes overwhelming....
The riding in the area is so good you may want to spend a day in Vermont,a day riding around Lake George,a day in Adirondack Park and don't miss Ny 149 just south of LG to the Vt border near Wells.
