Blinker switch housing

My left blinker is not working and i want to get in there and see if i can clean contacts or what ever to get it working. So how the heck do i get the housing off?

This morning my left blinker simply did not go on. I tried the hazard flashers and both left blinkers work just fine. The button feels clicking so I wonder if you had any outcome of your repair that you can share. .

Three screws hold it on: one on the bottom, one on the rear facing you, and one small one in the rear view mirror tunnel. You'll see it when you remove the mirror, which is secured by an Allen screw underneath the housing.

Is there something to clean, repair or the button s prone to fail?

I sprayed contact cleaner into the housing around the button... Didn't help. More likely, it's a frayed wire around the infamous too-tight zipties near the steering head. I ended up replacing the switch housing, just to get a fresh set of wires. $$$!

Its either the switch or the wires. First try to kick the life back into the switch by clicking it furiously while riding. If that has no effect its the wires. If that is the case, lift the tank to get to the plug and do a con check from the plug to the wires as they exit the switch. You will need a multimeter and a pin.

Or get ripped off by changing the switch assy.

I have the same situation but managed to kick the switch back to life. I think the moral is keep riding. Good luck.

Since the problem was intermittent, it was a bid pain in the buttocks to find out what the problem was. At first I though my bike like the warm air from the engine, because that was the only time the left blinker would work. Looking further down, cutting wire strips i found the blue wire cut. I connected it back and VOILA! it worked. Pretty happy that it was easy. Then put everything back and ... it did not blink!
So i tested the wire with a needle tester all the way by the switch and it proved that the switch was gone. Luckily there was one for sale on Ebay from 05 bike. Different connector however, so I had to splice all the wires to make it work. I should also mention that I have a pretty bad bruise on my leg. That is from kicking my self for trying to remove the heated grip (looking for that little small screw holding the switch assembly) and ripping the wire from it make instatly turning it into pretty unheated grip. Ebay to the rescue! BUt try to fit the wires through the hanld ebar all the way under the tank. Impossible. Splice it. See how it goes.
