Much better sound (even with baffle in) and bike seems more responsive. Just a couple of questions tho'
1. left-hand pannier seems to touch edge of the can; it's titanium and doesn't get too hot, albeit the end 'pipe' obviously does but that's not touching the pannier. The edge seems to have scratched the pannier slightly but nothing more. Anyone else experieced anything similar or had any problems.
2. Can I get my bike MOT'd in the UK with the y-piece and Remus can on? I just don't fancy having to take it all off again just to get the bike MOT'd. Would like to hear your experiences.
Also fitted a screen which is excellent, makes such a difference to riding on the motorway.
No, but I am looking at that upgrade. I am in sunny New Mexico - in the sticks - so I don't think the tail pipe sniffers will be too interested in me if some of the factory equipment happened to fall off. (no yearly emission check)

Well I can highly recommend it sounds is much much richer. I wouldn't say obnoxiously loud, but I've already had a couple of positive comments regarding how good it sounds. Nice low rich rumble at idle and low revs, then it really barks higher up the rev range
It also seems much perkier; not sure if that's psychological or not, but it does seem more responsive and eager...
I've had a look around the internet and seen quite a few comments regarding the fact it's 'OK' to be MOT'd in the UK with y-piece and Remus Rev can on. My can is road legal and I've left the baffle in.
Slight contact or the potential of exhaust gas on he paniers, I'm assuming the BMW plastic ones, will eventually result in damage. I suggest you take some pics from the rear with the panier fitted and post, as I'm not familiar with your set-up.
Another thing you can do is loosen the system clamps and see if you can move the muffler a bit away from the panier.

There are no maping issues a the ECU will learn the new ability of the engine to flow. Do reset the Motronic to make it faster.
Remove fuse #5 counting from the bike's left
Turn ignition to the "on" position
Open and close the throttle fully 2 times
Turn ignition off
Insert fuse and you are ready to go
This function basically resets the ECU to a basic map that will be taylored, via the learning capacity of the ECU, to your ridding style. Sometimes it is good to do it often if you do a lot of stop and go traffic as the engine operation becomes lazy.

Currently running stock (MOT last month) because my current Remus doesn't have a baffle (they eventually fall out with a lot of miles). You shouldn't have any MOT trouble IIRC.,
My Y-piece also broke which is why I'm running the cat.
One word of warning - if you are ever tempted, do NOT run the OE can on the Y-piece with the panniers fitted. The OE can will trap a LOT of heat, more than usual, and the exhaust gases will be hot enough to melt the REAR face of the pannier (I will take some pics of mine at some point - the melted area is NOT touched by the can - it's about 3 inches BEYOND the end of the can).

I remember a previous post where you mentioned that was the case... Your y-piece and Remus can Rice, cause any issues with the panniers; did it touch up against the pannier itself??

Well when I ran the bike for a good hour or so yeterday, the panniers didn't feel that hot and there was no visible damage to the pannier itself; aside from where it pushes up against the plastic and leaves a little 'scuff'; the titanium sleeve doesn't get too hot; albeit that I've thought about fitting a spacer to leave a small gap, just in case
So fifth fuse in from the lefthand side; what colour / 'size' is it, i.e 5A, 10A etc. etc.

Many thanks
I've ordered a sticky backed heat shield (genuine BMW part) to prevent any problems with the pannier. I suspect it'll be ok, but as discussed don't want to tempt fate!
I'll give the motronic reset a whirl and see how things go. To be honest it's felt nothing other than great since I fitted the y-piece; no 'fluffing', 'pops', 'backfires' just a low-down growl!!! It really does roar too when you crack the throttle open.
I'm off to Scotland on Thursday so no doubt it'll bed in throughout anyway...

My panniers have the aluminium "pad" on the inside face to prevent heat transfer - but that DOES get pushed against the Remus, however, the pannier doesn't get too warm, certainly not warm enough to be a problem (but I wouldn't put chocolate in there.... )
The only other issue is that the Remus Y-piece broke after about 40,000 miles or so, it HAD been on 2 different bikes though, and been through a few offs. Part of the supporting structure broke - not the tubes themselves, but the strut that holds it to the back of the engine block - I think the weld went. Never got around to having it fixed.
