First, I have noticed more and more that it is not just men who are aggressive drivers -- it's young women, too. These types are scary out there.
Second, since no one was seriously hurt, you have to love the justice of this.
CHESTER TWP. — A Budd Lake woman was injured when the car she was driving struck a tree near the intersection of Route 510 and Benjamin Road Wednesday morning, police said.
In what police described as an apparent road rage incident, a 2001 Volkswagen Jetta driven by Jessica Somma, 25, struck a tree after cutting off another driver on the eastbound lane of Route 24, AT 7:33 a.m.
Officer James McClemens said after Somma passed the other driver, she applied her brakes several times, with the driver behind her almost colliding into her car.
"She was definitely the aggressor," McClemens said. After cutting the other driver off, police said, Somma's car skidded across the road and struck the large tree.
Somma's car was pinned against the tree. Several firefighters cut out the roof of the car to extricate her.
Somma had suffered a fracture on her left ankle. She was transported to Morristown Memorial Hospital by the State Police's Northstar helicopter, police said.
One lane of Route 510 East was shut for about an hour and a half. The lane reopened at about 9:30 a.m., police said.
It wasn't immediately known if Somma was charged with any offenses
