Re: BMW Touring Windshied vs. Cee Bailey vs. Parabellum
I tried a bunch of various fairings and found that the Parabellum Scout was the all round best choice. I found the BMW and Cee bailey had too much dirty air. The scout allows me to easily change the size if the windshield from 10 in the summer to 18 in the cold although I usually prefer a 15. I saw one for sale on the BMWMOA for $200 in black. I don't know the person.......just trying to help. http://www.bmwmoa.org/flea/detail.php?s ... 62&catid=3

Re: BMW Touring Windshied vs. Cee Bailey vs. Parabellum
I just bought the Cee Bailys 21.5 Euro shield last month. I am very pleased with it compared to the shields I've tried before. I am also 5'10" and am using the "comfort" seat right now which puts me up a bit. I have been meaning to take some comparison pictures about this but haven't done it yet. Here's the basic difference between the CB screen and the BMW touring screen. The CB is about 2" taller and somewhat wider. It is shaped a little flatter and will give your screen a taller look. I bought the dark tint, which I think looks better and doesn't limit visibility to any great degree because you are still looking over the screen. On the Cee Bailys web site they seem to suggest that some states may have restrictions on the dark tint. Evidently not WA, as I had a roadside chat with the WA state highway patrol at night a couple of weeks ago and nothing was said about it.snelson200 wrote: I am hoping to get some feedback on the factory BMW Touring Windshield vs the Cee Bailey replacement screen vs the Parabellum screen. On my prior bike it came with the BMW Touring Windshield (at 20" long), which I was never happy with as the wind blast hit me square in the face (I'm 5'10"). I replaced it with a Parabellum 23" and loved it!
Now on my 2005 bike it has the same BMW Touring Windshield as I had before, and I wanted to see if anyone has tried the Cee Bailey 22" replacement screen that works on the BMW mounts. See link. http://www.ceebaileys.com/bmw/1150rws.html. I would rather go this route but am not sure it will be any better than the BMW stock windshield, or the equal of the Parabellum.
I did a complete search on the site for prior messages and while helpful I didn't see specific feedback on the Cee Bailey 22" replacement screen. I already know the Parabellum is great, and will get another one if I have to.
Thanks for any input.

The BMW touring shield has given me good service. It provides pretty good rain protection and decent protection from buffeting. The combination of the touring shield and my Arai Quantum F made too much noise so I decided to try the taller Cee Bailys screen. I find the screen quieter and I get better protection from wake turbulence in freeway traffic. I have not been able to test the rain protection as the Northwest has been unaccountably hot and dry. I think though from the airflow around the Cee Bailys that the rain protection will be a little better. I like the looks of the wider screen and if you don't need the extra height, a shorter screen would probably look great. Fit and finish on the Cee Bailys is excellent. It will drop onto the touring mounts with no problems. I preferred the looks of the Euro cut screen. You might like the dome, which makes the height 22" Your choice. Not cheap, but worth the money.
BTW, if you're wondering how CB measures the screens, they're measuring from the center bottom of the screen to the center top (If that wasn't already obvious to you) I got them to give me the measurement from the upper mounts to the top of the screen which let me make an accurate comparison with the touring screen. Most accommodating people at CB.
I don't get caught in the rain, I ride in it on purpose.

If it helps, I'm another happy Cee Baileys customer and I like the CB windshield itself much better than the BMW OEM touring; Add to that the fact that I can easily swap it with my BMW Sport shield without changing the mounts for warmer weather when I like more air and I'm a very happy camper.

Re: BMW Touring Windshied vs. Cee Bailey vs. Parabellum
I have the 22 inch dome top Cee Bailey on my 2002 R1150R. I am 5' 11" tall, long torso and the wind hits me right at my eye brows, however, it doesn't cause me any turbulence issues. I am not completely out of the wind, but then again, I'm not looking through a windshield either; I'm still looking over the top. My priority was to get the wind off my body, and this screen has accomplished that.
The screen is a great improvement over the OEM sport shield. I think the more rounded top of the 'dome' shield looks better than the euro cut screens, and it looks great on the RR.

Re: BMW Touring Windshied vs. Cee Bailey vs. Parabellum
I have owned all of the windshields mentioned above, and sold every one of them on eBay at a significant loss. Right before I was to put the R up for sale because of the teeth shattering buffeting, I decided to try the Parabellum. Thanks to that wise choice, I still have my R.
I am 5'10" tall.
The following combination will give you results if your only goal is to eliminate buffeting by 90% without regard for looks (function over form):
Parabellum Tall Shield
Laminar Lip (play with different heights to achieve best results)
Aerflow Tank Wings

Re: BMW Touring Windshied vs. Cee Bailey vs. Parabellum
I have a Cee Bailey 22" clear (old style) for sale. the post is in buy/sell forum from last July (btw the low seat was sold).
It would have been my second one if I had mounted it. I like it ok, but have only had smaller ones on the bike, and never had any BMW or Parabellums, so I cannot speak about one vs. the other.
I do a lot of x-country stuff (most of my 90k miles so far) but I have always worn ear plugs or ear buds of some kind. Yea, the wind hits me in the helmet (I'm 6'3", and my Rick Mayer saddle is 35" from the ground) so I sit pretty high up. Also the airblast does come around, it is not really deflected away from you entirely, that is there is no quiet zone for me with that shield. Nonetheless you definitely feel the difference, drastic compared to no shield, and substantial compared to a 14" high one which only keeps the main blast off my chest.
Frankly though, if you liked the Parabellum, I see no need to gamble on the Cee Bailey.
