My first BMW...

Post by 720moto »

So I made the jump from Supermotos, Sportbikes, Off-road racing, Harley's, & Ducati's to a BMW and all I can say I wasted years on the other brands when I should have bought a Beemer. I love my '02 1150RT that I bought used a week ago with 25k on the clock. My GF and I took a long ride on Saturday to Monterey Bay and try her out and she runs awesome! So confortable that I felt we could have kept going south on Hwy. 1 to Cambria. I didn't want to get off I just wanted to keep riding but of course our bums were starting to feel the effects since we haven't ridden in a while.

Glad to be a member of this forum and looking forward to interacting with everyone. Since this is my first Beemer, the engine noises it makes I guess I will need to get used to them. Until then I am hitting the road this morning and going on an all day ride up the coast to San Francisco past the Golden Gate bridge and do a loop around the bay.

Cheers!

Noises at start up and while riding from the cam chain assembly are not uncommon. Clacking valves, on the other hand, while rare, would be another matter. A sound or sensation of grinding or growling at the rear hub during corners is not good. Best sound, with valve adjustment, throttle body sync, good gas, stock cat and exhaust can, and proper fluids throughout is like a sewing machine. Sad, but true.

Welcome. So happy to hear your experience is so satisfying.

It is very possible to do most of the jobs around this machine if you are willing to read and try. Money solves most other problems. :)

Welcome.
