Re: Battery
Most users of this site favor the Odyssey PC-680 ~ $135, or the Westco for ~$100, I have used the Yuasa variant on all my bikes with very good service 5+ years. They are all of the AGM type.
Make sure your alternator belt is in good shape and properly tensioned, the way you use batteries is not a common ocurrence. Good luck.

Holy cow! I've still got my original battery... only now showing signs of "slowing down" at 6 years. My bike is approaching 60K miles. Wondering what you're doing that is so different that you're going through batteries that fast?Gubachoo wrote:so a battery isnt rockster specific... but whatever. so i am on my third battery in 6 years, BMW batt's, which as we all know, arent cheap. what is everyones experienve with dry cells or other aftermarket batteries? because im tired of paying this cash this often and want one that will really last and take some abuse for 30,000+ miles of riding this coming year

Re: Battery
After approx. 6+ years I'm finally replacing my '04 Rock's gel battery. I used a tender routinely but I suspect time and winter took their toll & I finally dropped a cell. I'm sticking with a stock replacement battery - I really can't complain about lifespan, considering this gel beast's outlived every other battery I ever bought.
Yeah - having a BMW logo painted on its side probably pointlessly raises the price but it's still more certain & convenient to me than ordering a Hawker equivalent out of England and waiting for it to show up...
Gas oil and tires are all this bike has ever required after I got done tweaking things to make it fit me.
Can't begrudge it a battery after that - I gotta keep this Appliance in tip-top shape!

Check your alternator belt, that's not normal.Gubachoo wrote:so a battery isnt rockster specific... but whatever. so i am on my third battery in 6 years, BMW batt's, which as we all know, arent cheap. what is everyones experienve with dry cells or other aftermarket batteries? because im tired of paying this cash this often and want one that will really last and take some abuse for 30,000+ miles of riding this coming year
Re: Battery
OK, on the subject of batteries. As part of my troubleshooting with 'Bridgette's headaches I thought I'd swap out her 6-year old OEM battery, I've decided to go with the Odyssey since Cyclerob, Boxermania, Norrad and most of the best minds here swear by it, I found that Odyssey now has a battery thats supposedly designed for the Motorcycle market... since it cost a bit more than the regular PC 680 I was wondering if anyone knew about the difference or if its simply marketing hype.....

Re: Battery
I'm interested in the model number for that Odessey battery... I'm also looking for a new one to see if it solves my front iABS servo failure.
Re: Battery
Sorry about the servo failure dude, I'm told its like rape getting the stealership to straighten it out
Actually there is a thread comparing the two batteries here viewtopic.php?f=3&t=15206&hilit=odyssey+pc+680
This site is priceless.... I did personally pull the trigger for the Odyssey PC 680, should be installing it this weekend, along with some Jiffy-Tite QC's....
