My HD '05 Road glide might been the smoothest bike i have ever owned but for the two K75's I had in the '90's.
So today we went on a short blast through the S Georgia countryside and found a neat restaurant called Wiregrass in Quitman Ga. Will have pictures from now on.
A little over 200 miles but this R 1150 RT is amazing. One little problem, it likes to run and runs best rightr at 75 - 80, which is fine on the interstates but the backroads not so much unless you don't care about your license.
I found the seat to be comfortable but I think it needs a scosh out towards the back to keep you planted. Used the BMW highway pegs(strange ridiculously ewxpensive.
So my impressions are it is a good motorcycle. Not great yet until my butt gets used to the seat. 50 mpg works for me but I am no knee dragger.
For the past ten years I have had Harleys and I love them also. They are Harleys and truely have soul. The RoadGlide and the Ultras can take on e a long way down the road and are easy to work on. Decided to get back with BMW as i enjoyed them back in the '90's. May keep my XR 1200 and i always have my partners HD Deuce.
I am getting the hang of the dumb turnsignals. Also the side stand that looks like it just wants to fall. If HD can have a locking side stand and auto canceling turn signals surely the German minds can come up with these things also>
So its a keeper until I can swing the R1200RT.
Good bike, and this appears to be a great forum

Install a Kisan Signal Minder! The best $100 you'll spend on your bike. I originally got mine because of the time-out function so I wouldn't leave the signals on, but the best part is the cancelling is done by a second tap on the same button you used to turn the signals on with. I rarely forget to turn them off. Make sure you get a recent model as the early ones did not have all four turn signal lights rapidly flashing (about five times) whenever you use the brakes. People really see you and notice when you brake with this feature. Yes, the dash repeater lamps do stay on at a dimmer level with this, but you soon don't notice it and the extra conspicuity is well worth it.
