R12R Competitor?!?

Re: R12R Competitor?!?
Lovely looking bike. The seat in particular, floating out in space like that. I guess we'd see it become more complicated as it moves from "concept" to reality, but it sure looks nice!

Re: R12R Competitor?!?
When I went to my local Italian dealership 2 weekends ago (to look at the hideous new Multi-strada, at this boards suggestion. Still trying to shake the image from my brain), the bike that caught my eye was the Guzi V7 cafe. A CLASSIC looking Guzi, but with electric start, and all things modern.
These new Guzi prototypes all look good, but I will wait till I see production models in person before I inform the Mrs that we will have a new child in the house.
PS: No room for saddle bags, of any sort, on any of the prototypes. Passengers ether.

My buddy has a Grizzo!! I almost bought one but the Boxer twin won me over " I'm glad" That Grizzo is a nice machine.
Speed cures all handling problems.

Re: R12R Competitor?!?
The motoguzzi concept that is the topic of this thread is a great looking bike but it's little more than copy of the BMW Lo Rider concept bike from a couple of years ago.
I too love the look of the V7 Cafe. The look of the triple clamp, clip-ons, controls and instrument cluster are just about perfect in my opinion (assuming of course that one replaces those ridiculous chrome Mickey Mouse ears with proper bar end mirrors).
My only question about the V7 Cafe Classic is how do they make a 750cc fuel injected engine with dual exhaust that is so gutless? 49 hp and 40 ft lb of torque? Couldn't they increase the valves or the stroke by a millimeter or two and get a horsepower number that started with a five?
I happen to love the metallic gold paint on the V7 which is good because the logo on the tank of the white model reminds me of a Harley Davidson decal from the dark, dark days of AMF ownership.
As for the styling of the Multistrada, it epitomizes an Adventure Touring bike...for another planet. But let's not be too critical. It has as much horsepower as a R1200R and a V7 combined. One has to wonder how much longer the horsepower wars can continue. Will the next naked boxer have 150 horsepower and 95 ft lbs of torque?

How about the new slant 6 stuffed into a Roadster? Along with the traction control systems to keep everything on the ground more or lessSander Abernathy wrote:The motoguzzi ... Re: R12R Competitor?!?
For years Moto Guzzi has come out with interesting (sometimes bizarre) prototypes that have never reached the show room.
The V7 is a nice little retro bike (personally if I wanted to ride an old bike I'd buy an old bike), but IMHO they screwed up using the 750cc engine. It's a popped out 650/500cc Guzzi small block that was never known for being a robust engine, and this latest version still has some issues. They would have been better off using an 850cc (1983 LeMans tune) version of the two valve big block, again IMHO, that was the best Guzzi motor made.
