Finally a break coming in this unusually cold weather!
I'm in SE MO where we're having an unusually cold winter.
My attempt at getting my clutch master cyl operating has been on hold since
not long after Thanksgiving.
I've narrowed it down to that when I discovered it wasn't putting out any
pressure to the slave by holding in on the throwout bearing with the clutch
pushrod and having my wife work the clutch lever - and that was after a
marathon round of bleeding, to put it mildly, thinking that was the problem.
And not a sign of a leak in the slave, so - -.
I took the plunger out and cleaned the reservoir, haven't gotten to the
plunger cavity other than to do a quick light wipe. Nothing but a few very
small black flecks lurking in the bottom of the reservoir, and both little
holes are totally free.
The seals looked undamaged on the plunger, but the pressure seal (inner) must
not be sealing well enuf to create hydraulic pressure.
I wiped the plunger off, wiped out the plunger bore, and reinstalled it and still no pressure.
I guess the next thing to do to absolutely verify that the MC is not functioning
is to disconnect the brake hose from the MC and cap it off with a bolt and
crush washer then see if I can feel pressure on the clutch lever.
I'll do a real close inspection of the plunger cavity and if the inside is not rough
for any reason, probly the next step is to try the rebuild kit from BB.
Poor bike has been sitting partly disassembled all winter, with the only sign of
life the indicator light on the battery tender. A most depressing sight!
After I swapped the low ratio gears from an Enduro trans into my roadster trans
last fall, the clutch never did really release fully so didn't get to see how it shifted
under normal circumstances, but by modulating engine rpm I was able to at least
drive it to see if everything sounded OK in the trans, which for ~40 miles it did.
TGFSF!!
The Enduro trans I bought had a leaky front seal and a worn input shaft, so have
that to fix and re-assemble with my high ratio gears out of my roadster trans
so I have a complete good roadster trans either to sell or hang onto as a spare.
I was stunned when I actually found a decent used input shaft! I emailed all the
R1150 trans sellers on eBay and one BMW dismantler came back having the shaft I needed.
So one more go-round of assembling a trans. But that's gonna wait for warmer
weather!

Hi's in the 40's this coming Sat thru Mon, then 50's & 60's all the next week.

Macx, I'm in Columbia Missouri so I'm with you, I can't wait for this weekend when it's supposed to be in the 40's!! We got 18 inches of snow last week, and I had to ride my bike this weekend because my wife accidentally took my car keys with her on a trip. So, that was a little scary and I can't wait for this weekend when I can ride without constantly worrying if the backend is sliding out.

Yeah, I thought of you.
You had all the fun (with the snow, we only got a couple inches) - you see I say
that cuz I spent my first 40 yrs in cental MN, and since time in MT and WY and
other northern states.
I miss snowmobiling at least as much as I miss riding bikes, but will likely never
get that chance again.
Looks like I might get one more chance this winter to do a little snow plowing -
probly as close as I'll ever gt to snowmobiling again.
Even with the dirt bikes I had years ago up in MN, I never was a fan of riding on
anything slippery. Now in a hot rod or a snowmobile - - Yahooo!

Heads up you two looks like another storm rolling through but staying low so Iowa will be missed. I actually enjoyed the last blast and would take another but then again I groom a trail system up here in Iowa and teach XC ski lessons for extra cash during the Winter season.

Wishful thinking again. We again just got a 1" dusting, but there was 12"+ not too far south of us,
as well out west in KS & NE OK.
Cold in single digits tonite, but 50's & 60's starting Sunday.

Oh, be quiet, -14 in Iowa City (15 inches of white on the ground) this AM, might as well head out for a good long ski session and drive up some body heat. I've got a nice little path cleared from the shed to get one of the motos out but wishful thinking on this end...

Here are some admittedly unusual snow pics taken in Lead SD after one of the
recent storms, sent to me by my cousin. Just South of Rapid City.
Looks more like pics I've seen of Alaska along the coast.
I lived in central MN for 40 years and saw it this bad only three or four times.
Once I stood in the middle of a county road and looked DOWN at the tops
of the poles in a new 3 phase power line along the road.
Another time I had a 64' wide pole barn that was 15' at the peak and
I couldn't even see it, and I snowmobiled right over it. Snow was up to
my shoulders on the roof. One of my 3 barns collapsed after that storm.
Now THAT is enuf to snowmobile in!

OMG I have never seen such an enormous amount of snow! Talk to me about global warming ....

I think you'll find a standard 10X1 bleeder screw for the brakes will fit in the output hole in the master cylinder making it very easy to test whether it can build up and hold pressure. You don't need to find a bolt and copper washer. The bleeder will make it quick and easy to get the air out of the cylinder, just protect the paint anywhere near the area. I find the bleeders at Oreillys or Discount Auto Parts hanging on a card at about 2 for $6'ish.

Thanks - never thought of that.
Lowes didn't have a 10x1 bolt (just 10x1.25), so just picked up some washers and was going to
drill a nut out to fit on the existing banjo bolt in place of the fitting.
