Akrapovic exhaust can fitment

Post by Rrider »

I see a used can on Craigs thats on an RT. The part number is S-B12S05-HLT/1. The part number for the R1200R is S-B12S05-HLT. Slightly different P/N. Does anyone know the difference or whether the /1 from the RT would work on an 07R?

thanks

I'm not sure if they are the same but my 2011 Akro is marked up as R/RT so I assume it can be fitted to both models.

I got a Remus can off fleabay a while back for an RT/ST and that wouldnt fit till the link pipe was modified.
I assume the Akrapovics would be the same with the different part Nos.

The R and RT have different headers. The cans with extension don't match up the same. I have a Ztechnik exhaust for an RT and had to modify the joint to the header and the center-stand stop in order to make it work. It works, but it took some fiddling and patience.

Thanks folks. Turns out Akra came back with a response that it won't fit due to some of the reasons mentioned here: link pipe is different, mounting bracket position is different too. Oh well I'd just be making more noise with it anyway.

So the install of the Akropovic on my 08 1200R was such a non event I couldn't believe it. One of the simplest things I have done on the bike since I put the stick-on BMW badge on the Cal Sci windscreen.

Question about the lead free copper paste that went inside the clamp to the header and on the nut and bolt. Is that actually a form of solder? I assume it keeps the connection tight over time.

No - it actually does the opposite. It's antiseize - it helps keep the parts from fusing together.
