Hi everyone!
I stumbled on to this forum after buying a 2003 R1150R a couple of weeks ago. I've been riding for 42 years, and have owned a '66 R50, '72 R75/5, '78 R100/7, '82R100RT, '87 K75C, and a '92R100R. My current BMW is a 2001 Dakar, of which I'll be parting with shortly. I've ridden a few friend's oil heads, and just waited until the right deal came along. I found the R at Omaha BMW. Had about 8,700 miles on it and belonged to guy who was getting out of riding to get into a Mini. System cases, small BMW windshield, Throttlemeister, and cylinder guards, all for a reasonable price of $5,495. Although you can see I love BMWs, I also have had a long term "relationship" with Brit bikes, and currently own a couple of Commandos, '69 Trident, and a 59 Velocette Venom Clubman, along with a modern Speed Triple. Yes, I'm insane! Anyway, I've already learned a thing or two from this forum, and will have a few more questions as I get into oil head ownership. The closest thing I can compare it to is my 92 R100R (which I loved). Most of the familiar quirks are there, with a good turn of speed.

Well, I upgraded, and I'm now a lifer! I'm a member of a few other forums, for other makes, and this one has real class and friendly people! Lots of information here. I've enjoyed going through a lot of the older posts.

Don, your joining makes two of us in Lincoln. I've been lurking here for a few months because I'm considering trading my '04 Bonneville for an R1150R or possibly R1200R. I'm still on the fence, wish I could afford to keep the Triumph and just add a Beemer, but don't want to get thrown out of the house.
