tank draining question

Post by sstein »

I would like to drain the fuel tank using my removed plastic QD and a length of fuel hose. I will disconnect both QD's and then attach one old QD/hose to one QD (does it matter which?), turn the key and the fuel should drain out. Does that sound right? Sorry for the simple question but don't want to learn everything the hard way.
Thanks

Use the male end of the old QD on a hose and plug it into the female QD on the tank (you did install them in the direction of the originals, right?). No need to power the pump, the fuel will drain, just pop the cap for better venting.
I just did this on my new to me R last week when I replaced the QD's, been doing it this way on the K-bike for years.

I believe I install them correctly. if not would it still work? I could always reverse the Q D's if necessary. thank you for your response.
