After seven years on an 1150R, I decided to change bikes. My wife wants to get back into dirt-bikes, so the boxer is for sale, and I bought a Triumph Tiger 800 XC. The XC, only slightly used and still under warranty for another 14 months, came to me like nearly all of my bikes including the 1150, instead of me looking for it. So I guess it really was time.
Though I wasn't a super-active poster, I think it's rude to just get up and leave the place without saying a word.
So for now, time to say goodbye to this forum – until there's a GS lurking? – especially for all the incredibly valuable advice I found here.
Among all the kind and helpful members, one guy sticks out: big hug and very special thanks to CycleRob, who deserves a halo for his infinite patience with bumbling left-handed idiots like me.
Beemers will always have special place in my heart. If you see a Tiger rider wildly waving because he recognised a boxer coming his way – must be me.
Ride safe y'all,
tobias
Thank you all so much, and Goodbye

Tobias, sorry to see you go! Triumph is a fine machine though. I've never owned one, but rode a Speed Triple one time. That was one quick machine. I will make a prediction though. One day you'll be back (I hope)! I seen many guys trade to many other machines and a good number eventually come back to the R. But at any rate good luck with your new steed and ride safe!

Re: Thank you all so much, and Goodbye
Thanks man!
I rode both bikes around the block last night back to back. Fun. The Triumph is an interesting animal; a triple tuned for mid-range torque, still revving quite a bit higher. Sounds very polite, but then, after listening to a sweet Remus for seven years, nothing sounds good (and that can be fixed). Tiger is a bit slimmer, lighter and taller which first I thought was weird, but for the non-inseam-challenged feels very good.
We'll see down the road what happens; never rode a GS but I'm very curious about that. In the meantime, the Tiger puts a big grin on my face, and I believe independent of what we ride, that what counts.
Ride safe, and enjoy.

Just because you are now riding a Triumph doesn't mean you have to say goodbye; stop in and say hi once in a while.
I no longer have an R1150R or R1200R - sold 'em both and now ride a R1200GS. But I still hang out and put up a post now and then.

I know I'll miss the R. But funds are not unlimited, and neither is space.
But you have a good point, agreed. I may turn into a semi-lurker then ;->
