R850/1150R 2006 questions about shocks

Post by DanH »

What brands of shocks were put on these bikes by BMW? Are they rebuildable?

Is the preload on the front adjustable?

Thanks.

IIRC they're Showa.

Some people have had them rebuilt, which annoys me slightly as I had a shop owner I trusted claim that it wasn't rebuildable. :(

not sure about the preload.

Ended up finding a major deal on BMWMOA on a set of Yacugar for less than half the price of new, 6000 easy miles on them. Also found out the stock Showas can be rebuilt but really not worth the money.

I did a lot of research on this and it appears the consensus is the Hagons are better than stock but not up to the level of Wilburs, Ohlins or Hyperpro.

However, they are a great deal less expensive also.
