stock and sheep, can't answer on a real ride because i have only done a couple hours at once so far.

can say way better than stock f650gs, and corbin on a 650, but not as good as a day long on the 650

:) its a bit of both. Ill say slightly uncomfortable anesthesia. pins and needles sort of....

New member here, I discovered this board while seeking a higher seat for my 2002 R1150R.

As a returning rider whose last bike was an R80/7, I bought the R 18 months ago, it has the low seat.
I'm six foot two and 64 years old, so my knees protest a bit when I visit my daughter, a ride of 510 kilometres (317 miles)!

Yet I love the bike, so I'm looking for a solution.
I believe the R actually had three seat height options.
So far I've found nothing locally, which for me is Western Australia, so I'm expanding my search! ;)

Cheers.

DIY mods on the stock. Added approx. 3 inches of carpet pad and upholstery foam to the low seat and recovered with carbon fiber look vinyl. Way less knee bending and no more sliding into the tank!

The best investment I have done for my RR was the Bill Mayer Saddle. The stock seat, and I tried the high seat and regular seat left me in agony after only one tank of gas. Bought the Bill Mayer to ride a Saddle Sore 1000 and the 1500 mile Bun Burner Gold and have done both in total comfort.

I finally found a bead seat at WM for $10. I looped some heavy fishing line through the part I wanted to keep and cut off the top end. Tied the big part to the drivers saddle and just laid the other part on the pillion. Plan to paint it black when I'm done with adjustments.

Findings after maybe 80 miles of testing...
- I have it too far forward. Digs into my thighs where I am squeezing the tank (sort of)
_ if I move it back to where it end just before the nose of the seat goes up, much better
_ contributes more to height than I was expecting. My 5'6" with 28" inseam moves from balls of feet to toes. Don't like that much in traffic but not bad for distance I think.
_ comfort? Not sure yet. Seems ok but hadn't adjusted the beads back.
_ it was much cooler here this weekend, low 70's. I was kind of surprised by how much air flowed around the beads. I was wearing jeans and it was definitely cooler in the nether regions. Maybe not so good on a colder ride
