The cavity under the fuel tank were the ABS pump vacated is a good space to add the relays and fuses for extra lights and such
And has the B+ on the alternator right there to get power from

Yes they're oem, my '04 also has them. Far superior to the earlier rubber lines.GeoAdventure wrote:All my brake lines look like clear coated ss; is that oem?

Re: New 2004 R1150R
The brake lines appear to be clear-coated braided SS lines. Are OEM SS?
I just discovered my fork dust seals are slightly cracked and split. Not leaking.
So my first job (besides oil/Tran/final drive fluid change) will be to pull the tubes and replace the dust seals. While I have it apart I will replace the oil seals and oil.
Anything else while I am there. Is there a spring upgrade or ???

Re: New 2004 R1150R
There is no spring. Oil is only for lubrication of the sliders which are bushed, the shock with the spring is the suspension. If you want to update you buy a new shock, which will make a big difference from the OEM's, recommend Olin or Wilbers, F&R. Shocks will have stick shock
if you have never bought them before. OEM shocks are usually toast at 20-25,000. The dust covers being cracked are no big deal, they age quickly. As long as your not leaking oil your ok. 2004 came with the SS brake lines, they do age however.

Swampier
Thanks I was thinking that should be the case.
So..... wheel bearing? Should I pull them and lube or replace them. How do they behave? All my other bikes wheel bearing were just checked when the tires were replace.

Here is a picture of my GS peg mounts on my 04 R
I got them off of eBay and they come with the MC
The brake line come from the local hot rod shop here in St Louis
I would think the OEM GS hose would have work just fine but i wanted to get it going ASAP
I also think the Roadster MC could also be used if you could rig up the brake line with a 90 deg fitting at the MC
The pegs are from a 07 GSA they were free but I had to modify them to make fit and I could not make the springs work
I have a set of Fastway EVO 3s under the tree

Be careful. We already drag the stock pegs and yours are looking really low now.

I may be wrong, but I believe this is also the right time to replace the air in the tires with the proper Bavarian Alps imported winter air which can be ordered online.towerworker wrote:Make sure antifreeze service has been performed.

Yes I was concerned about thatswamper wrote:Be careful. We already drag the stock pegs and yours are looking really low now.
They Guy that rides with me most of the time has been watching me in the twisties and he hasn't noticed me getting to close.
I do ride fairly conservative and it hasn't been a issue yet
Any way I have a lot more clearance than the Harley's we see .
I only ride solo so maybe that helps to

Re: New 2004 R1150R
If previous didn't install quick disconnects in the fuel lines make sure you do. Sooner or later old lines fail, and in my case they were sooner. Plus the gas tank needs to come off for many routine services and this makes it way easier.
