A friend of mine found that his auto had one hidden in it by the manufacturer, for research the dealer said. "All information gotten from it is confidential and can't be used by the authorities," the dealer went one. “Only to be used to record data - speeds, areas of the country, etc.”

My friend asked if the information could be obtained with a subpoena?

"Oh, I don't know about that," was the response.

"Can it be removed?" asked my friend.

"Oh no, it is part of the wiring and nothing short of replacing all the wiring in the car can remove it." I understand the dealer also said something along the lines of; if you're not doing anything wrong, what does it matter?

My friend did not take much solace from all of that. Oh, one thing, it appears that the transponder does not work all wrapped up with aluminum foil.

Yes...Maybe...but remember that was in the seventies... ...btw a friend has one (Honda CBX 6 cylinder job) in imac condition..

I still think it's a crazy thing for Suzuki to do...but I could be wrong...it looks like a new production bike..not a prototype...it least it doesn't look as wide as the old Honda's or Benellies....but then our bikes are pretty wide.

I think 6 cylinders suck. Either 2, 3, 4 or 5 too many, depending on your tastes (I currently have 1 single, 2 twins and 1 triple and I am a happy camper).
The sixes have always been smooth and torquey but that's also true for a lot of lighter engines with fewer parts, less complicated maintenace and lower cost.
Sixes have never been very successful for very long and yes, I know Mike the Bike won world championships on them. Like Rossi, he could have (and did) do that on other configurations. Early Benellis and maybe another Italiano had some racing success too but I don't remember what/who.
Street sixes have a high novelty factor and not much else.
The street versions were normally not all that quick/fast either, too heavy I guess. I've ridden a CBX, Benelli Sei and Kawasaki 1300 6 (name?) but fortunately have not owned them.

I don't get it either. 4 seems to be the most you need for a motorcycle. A short ride on a R1 or a KRS will tell you that in a jiffy. Of course, a short ride on a RC51 will tell you that 2 is enough for bike, but I digress.
