All other motorcycle related topics go in here." However, DO NOT post ANY messages that are related to politics or religion in here. They will be erased. Thanks!
Well I saw the picture and even posted a reply. Do I understand you are banned for that posting?
If that is truly the case, to ban a person who has never said a negative word to anyone on this site but has always been upbeat and positive. I'm beyond words.
Thanks for all the great pictures. I hope you'll take Doug up on his offer of help with posting procedures, rather than bail out of this site. Your posts are among the most interesting and entertaining content on this or any other motorcycle site I've ever visited; your behavior towards your fellow members is proof that you are a hell of a good guy. We need more like you.

Pissed off Frank
DJ has not been banned. He's not even been asked to leave. Doug edited his post. I'll add myself to list of people asking him to stay.
DJ, stick around my brother from down under.
I'll make my attempt at clarifying some of this. Doug does not like images of bikini-clad women embedded inline in posts. Such images COULD BE considered inpropriate for a forum about motorcycles. All that's been said is that the main forum is not the place for those images. In Rule #2, he asked that they be posted in Patrick's Playhouse. DJ's post had no warning of bikini-clad women, AND was posted in the main forum, inline in the post so that it was automatically displayed. Doug edited the post, AND gave an explanation.
We can argue until we're blue in the face about what's offensive, that isn't the issue. Doug has drawn the line at bikini-clad women in the main forums to keep this site the classy place it is. The fact that we're talking about bikini-clad and not naked hints at the elevated level in which this forum operates and is part of what makes it stand out in an Internet full of sites that cater to the lowest common denominator.
In a further attempt to keep R1150R.net the classiest site on the Net Doug has decided to get a handle on threads being posted in the proper forums. This problem pre-dates Dallara's arrival to the board. DJ, you've always posted your "Great Ride" threads in the main forum so they get maximum exposure. I've talked to you about this in past. Getting EVERYONE to post in the correct forum is the first step in getting EVERYONE to realize there are other forums on this site.
Boys & Girls, there's a serious problem here. "DJ" is [was] a central "plank" of this site and yet, somehow, he feels allienated enough to want to hang up his boots. I realise [and accept] there needs to be a certain number of rules to enable the board to function but, no matter how often the rules are reiterated, the occasional "misdirection" to the WRONG F**KING AREA, YOU MORON or DON'T ATTACH PHOTO'S YOU CRETIN is not [shouldn't be] a "capital" crime.
I'm not, currently, a contributing [$$] member, so you may not think I'm entitled to a view. However, if I was contemplating becoming a paid-up "lifer" [or whatever], I'm rethinking my position presently.
Doug. We constantly have it shoved down our collective throats that this is your site. Your guest's; so we must do what you say. Do you really treat your house-guests that way? I'd be amazed. In my house the guest is "king". Any subject is allowable. Paraphrasing wildly "I may disagree with everything you say but I'd defend to the death your right to say it". I'm sorry but this isn't your site, any more than my next dinner party is my forum. It isn't, because your "guests" have their own agenda's and their own proclivities.
Your role [as site owner] and that of your Moderators, should be to redirect misdirected threads and, where appropriate, to delete posts that are inflamatory. However, you should always edit with an explanation [as you did (unusually) with this thread]. It is your site, so you can do as you think fit [including deleting my contribution] but don't expect us to come along with you like some flock of sheep! Any community is made up of a mix of personalities and this enriches "the whole". Ye Gods, if we all thought the same things it would be a pretty boring experience.
In short, accept more, do less. This is a community of bikers.
Admittedly without dredging every thread, I've not seen your answer to "Rice" regarding selling your interest in the site. If it is such a drain on your financial and emotional resources, perhaps this is the time to "get rid".
Have always loved your posts & felt I had a friend in Australia. I've always been amazed at how much Australia looks like SoCal. If your ever up this was I can set you up in a nice beach condo in Newport Beach (The O.C.) with a little run around harbor boat. Might make a nice vacation during your cold months. Thanks for all the great reads & great pics.
Est51,
I agree with Bones, just what I would have wanted to say. Thanks.
I happened to open that bikini pic in work. There was someone within eyeshot and I got a awful sinking feeling I was about to get reprimanded or even canned. The Boxer was awesome though, as it caught someone's attention behind me, as I was about to show off the joy of motorcycles, scrolling down..down.. Oops! Tatooed ho alert! Not good.
So why should I get canned for visiting the board in work? My work allows internet surfing on lunch hours as long as it's acceptable content. Do we really want the board to denegrate to the point that WebSense puts us on their hit list and we are blocked by corporate firewalls?
It's a slippery slope and once you make that list, you are never removed from it. This may not matter to those who don't have computer access in the workplace, but it sure is important to me.
The board is supposed to be acceptable content (as long as I stay clear of the Playhouse, it is supposed to be fine right?) .
There are literally thousands of message boards on the net, and many are not acceptable to use during one's lunch hour. This one is...for a reason.
Has anyone ever spent any time at a board with no moderation?
They are sewers.
I love DJ, and his posts, make no mistake. My kid and I journey to Australia with all his rides and we love that. No one is banning him.
Why is it so hard to follow a couple of simple rules? There is no conspiracy.
fwiw, I am not a biker. I don't need bad boy culture to enjoy my ride.
Freedom is dangerous. Those in power that steal freedom are more dangerous.
I paid to join this site about a year ago. DJ, with his boundless good cheer, and amazing ability get himself photographed with some of Australia's finest, has been a core contributor and stalwart member of this site. DJ, if you go, know that you've made a lot of good friends around the world. I've enjoyed every one of your posts. P.S. I'm looking forward to seeing the famous (and perhaps final) bikini picture some time! Even better, I'd like to go for tour around Vic and the rest of Oz with ya someday (I wish!).
In DJ's original post, I was rather surprised to by the condescending tone of this edit that was added after DJ:
"[edited by doug - Please post pictures correctly, not a hard concept DJ] "
How ironic that this public scolding of our friend DJ is itself a violation of Rule#3 of this site which is: "Everyone must treat each other with respect".
How about a little more Rule#3 from you Doug? Your post only served to embarrass our friend DJ (who may leave this site as a result) and to anger paid members such as myself. Think about it.
A better edit by you (Doug) would have been:
"Edited by Doug -- image removed due to inappropriate content. See Rule #2".
DJ, I find you a very classy guy regardless of the consensus to the contrary by our moderators and others. Also, please accept my sincere thanks for your great posts over the last two+ years that I've been enjoying them. You have never offended me and they have been greatly appreciated. I hate to see you go but I'm not sure if I want to hang around either with a bunch who finds a bikini clad girl with a motorcycle distasteful. Your a good man DJ !!! I'll check in from time to time to see if you've reconsidered (which I hope you dol) otherwise, I'm out of here too. Thanks again!
I'm leavin' as well, similar/same reasons. I do not enjoy this board anymore. I'd say goodbye in a seperate thread, but don't think I'm that important. I do want to thank you all for your help with my R1150R when I had it. DJ, please bring some of your stories AND GREAT PICTURES to http://www.fjrforum.com/forum/ as soon as possible. Fun folks there that love to ride, and your posts will not be censored.
My R is gone, but it is the one motorcycle that I wish I had kept. Again, thanks everybody for your help. Ride safe.
I'll be posting a link to "Kinky and Stinky" in the off topic section at the FJR forum in about a month. It is a video, starring my pugs, Juno and Diesel. It's coming along nicely, should be done in less than 30 days. I won't be checking back here, even once. Moderators feel free to give away my lifetime membership, if that is possible. I have donated many several times since buying my membership, and so would like this request to be honored.
DJ, The above post from "guest" was me, Brakecheck. Also, if you do leave, please let us know any other sites you might be posting in. Thanks again. Dana
First off, DJ, take a week off, a month, but don't go permanently! Please! I love your postings and this site will not be the same w/out you.
Second, everyone needs to lighten up and not take this site so friggin' seriously.
T.
