Fair Used CDN Price For R850R ?

They are asking $8K CDN for a very clean 98 R850R with 14,000 km at the local bike shop. It has heated grips, side touring cases but no ABS. I have a feeling this price is rather high ? Is there a Blackbook price on this ?

I have no idea..but it seems a little high...others here will know for sure.

You would be better to go the extra yard and get the R1150R..the difference is huge and if you can get one for around the same price it would be a better way to go..IMHO.

I'm with DJ. I test rode both the R850R and R1150R before I bought my Rockster. My feeling is this:

- The 850 is smoother, but considerably less torquey. Very pleasant to ride, but would be taxed by a pillion and/or luggage on tour. I would sum it up as unassuming - polite, eager, but a little staid. Horses for courses, though.

- The 1150's engine has a little more snap 'n snarl, and heaps more torque. It is considerably more exciting to ride in good hands. It handles pillions and luggage easily.

- Both bikes are near identical - they are big and heavy, but with outstanding balance, handling and braking.

Bottom line, the 850's meagre power to weight ratio will disappoint over the longer term. The 1150 is a keeper IMHO.
