Swapping Front Wheel Fenders

Post by Kirk »

Ok, I really like my 1150R and for the most part like the styling as well but I do have a bone to pick with that front wheel fender. Has anyone noticed that if you turn the handlebars to the left and look at the bike on the right side, it looks like a mullet. That's right the notoriously ugly 80's hard rock hair style - big puffy front section and the funny looking thin tail running down the back. I guess it's safe to say I'm not too fond of the design and, with this lengthy introduction, was wondering if anyone knew if the R1150R and R1150R Rockster front wheel fender are directly interchangable without any mods or possibly even with some modification. If so I'm strongly considering doing that. So if you can swap those pieces, and/or someone has one they'd like to sell me, please let me know. Please also post up if someone knows for sure this cannot be done. I would also consider the front fender from the RT as well. Again if anyone knows if this will or will not work, please post or pm me. Thanks.

I have asked the same question after trashing my fender with a disc lock the day after I took delivery! According to my dealer you cant use the standard R1150R fender because the Rockster uses the R100S's front forks which are bigger and wider. They are too, I've looked.

Try an R1150 RT or RS fender - the forks are (I believe) the same.

Correct you can not swap them as the forks are differant. Take a look at the RS because I think that they are the same as the Roadster.

K1200RS fender is the hot tip. Direct bolt-up.

Someone said the R fender directs air to the oil radiators.

It also helps keep the front wheel down with all those power wheelies...... Image

so why fit something different to the Rockster (assuming the Rock needs the same amount of air).

or is it assumed that Rocksters will be ridden faster. ;)

My guess would be that the "someone" didn't know what they were talking about. "Someone said" gives about as much credibility to the statement as it deserves. It is just another David Robb styling statement like the R1200C. - Lee
