Oil filters and fuel fillers

Post by single650 »

Two technical questions:

Does a K oil filter tool fit a Rock?

Has anyone taken a saw to that stupid tube inside the fuel filler. The K had a similar tube but you could remove it as it was screwed onto the inside of the fuel filler. Removing means you can see into the tank when filling and you get about 2 litres (1/2 US gallon) extra fuel in.

Make sure that you don't overfill your tank, hot weather may cause the fuel in the tank to become more volatile, causing higher pressure in your tank.

The pressure in your tank will rise and the safety valve will open, spilling that extra gallon...

Actually the pressure won't rise because there's an air pathway out via a tiney hole in the filler cap - all bikes have this (it's what makes the whistle noise occasionally). Providing you don't BRIM the tank completley (and you'd be a fool to do that anyway) you'll be fine. :)
