Another ABS question

ABS? I have been riding for 25+ years and although no weekend track guy, I have a good feeling for good solid simple brakes. Fast forward to last summer when I purchased my 04' R with antilock brakes: The anitlock part is seamless for the most part and hasn't been a problem at all, but the boosted braking just plain sucks. I know how to use these things, but the boost just messes me up. Too senitive, poo feedback. I only wish that I had ridden one without prior to purchase. And the pump whine noise?! Whats up with that? Anyone know how to disable the boost mechanism? I am tempted to bypass the antilock and revert back to simple. I understand that this is not as simple as it seems, but I doubt that. I think that the master and caliper #'s are the same, just re-route the lines and ditch the box.
