What Kind of Brake fluid to use?

Post by hep303 »

I have a 2004 R1150R with 2,400 miles. I'm taking a motorcycle repair class at a local college and I need to pick up some supplies. It's a very hands on class and we'll be learning how to do some general repairs and maintenance. I'm sure some of the motorheads on this site will be the most reliable source for future repair questions.
What brake fluid is recommended? I heard DOT 4 is suitable. Any brands recommended?
Anybody have a website they recommend to purchase stuff? Contact cleaner, fluids, spark plugs, etc.?

BMW DOT 4. That's the one recommended, I believe.

Valvoline Synpower DOT 3 / 4. It's DOT 3 / 4 compatible but has a higher boiling point. I've used it in all my bikes.
