Cage-Free July.. Ruined

Post by jfslater98 »

Well maybe not ruined, but certainly will not be pristine. So with ga$ the price it is, and the contemplation of Ride to Work day, I thought 'hey why not make it Ride to Work Month'. And if I can ride to work all month, why not commit to riding the bike anywhere I have to if I'm on my own? So I bolstered up my rain gear, got a Sargent seat from Johnnyjs1 and was all set.

And then the dry cleaning finally showed up at work. #-o Which includes my wife's slacks #-o #-o

No way out of this, right? Have to take the cage in and pick up the dry cleaning. Darn it!

Sorry for the whining, it's just that I was hoping for a perfect record.

I'm just letting the dry cleaner store my clothes for awhile (wonder how long they will keep them for me?) and wearing old dirty clothes to work. Blame it on the gas prices!

Why not send it UPS to your home? :D

The weather keeps me from riding some days. What does a 50% chance of severe thunderstorm mean? Is there any other job in the world in which you can say, gee, I don't really know what will happen, so let's just toss a coin and see.

I can handle some rain, but I am not real interested in riding in a thunderstorm.

See if you can wear all the items home on the bike, preferably all at once (like Joey in the Friends episode ...)

I like that idea: "Honey, do you think your pants make my a** look fat?"

I remembered something I had actually mentioned to Marty2, Beemeridian and Daryl_Stamp at the recent Bash, that my wife had not only been the one to encourage me to start riding, but she actually paid off my bike. I'm a lucky, lucky man. So having to take the cage in to pick up her slacks and deliver them safely is a very small price to pay.

And as I listen to the rain pounding the roof here at work, I am wondering if I could've made that run today. Oh well, the rain gear gets another field test.
