B.Careful out there.....was out and about on one of my bikes - not the Rockster but a Honda NT700AV....and I think I lost one of my 9-lives on the way home and am lucky to be writing this....near Corby (UK) a 'flagstone/boulder' fell off a 'lorry' and I hit it dead-on and 'vaulted' the stone. I think I didn't fall off becaue it happenned too quickly to panic or avoid!
Luckily I was in a straight line and both wheels went up and over the 'boulder'.
I stopped at the side of the road...the lorry didn't
Got a lovely 'ding' on the front alloy wheel rim now, but luckily on the extreme edge - it looks as if someone has been a little brutal with a tyre lever - but the tyre has stayed on and pumped up and no feel or sensation thru the wheel. Will keep an eye on this....don't expect them Honda wheels come cheap!!
You can tell how big this boulder was coz although a following Merc passed over it a guy in an old British Leyland type Mini holed his radiator hiting the boulder...I had to call the AA for him once I'd calmed down. He didn't see it because he was watching 'me' doing my Motorcycle Trials impression and was amazed I didn't come off.....
Who needs a G/S ...it seems the Honda 700 might be upto some off road going...although I'd rather not!!!
When I mentioned it to SWMBO and showed her the wheel and 'moaning' about both the ding and the cost of a replacement, if it comes to that...she said "..well at least I don't need to buy another sort of 'head'stone or spend hrs visiting hospital...and a new wheel is better than having to 'train' another man...."
although she also said, with a smile "...the life insurance money would have been nice though!!..."
so very true...and yes I consder myself v.v.lucky.
