Anyone Try a Panasonic Battery?

Has anyone used a Panasonic battery in their Roadster/Rockster? Specifically, the LC-X1220P. It is a sealed lead-acid battery with almost identical outside dimensions of the Odyssey PC-680. It has slightly more capacity than the PC-680 (20Ah or 18Ah compared to 16Ah, depending on which rate of discharge you use). True, the Panasonic is not rated for motor vehicle use or starting use, but the LC-X line has been used with good results in lots of airheads. I currently am on my second LC-X1228P in my airhead, the first one lasting 6.5 years and was still working when I replaced it (just a little slow to crank on cold days). I've found it to have a very low self-discharge rate, as my Panasonic battery never sees a trickle charger and starts the bike right up even after sitting for a month or more. After a quick google search, it looks like the Panasonic is about 2/3 the price of the PC-680.

(I have no affiliation with or any interest in Panasonic or anywhere that sells them, I just think this may be a very viable battery for Beakster use)

Nope....but I have a Panasonic TV, toaster and blender....I didn't know they made batteries too....what is this world coming to ????

It's not rated for motor vehicle use because it's prolly not able or designed to withstand the heat and vibration.

As I recall, there has been some complaints about that particular battery on this forum, I believe the battery in question had died prematurely. Most likely for the reason Rob gave, motorcycle batteries take a beating.

I have one. Installed 6/30/06 according to my records. I did not record mileage, but I would guess that I have 18-20K miles on it. It's been working fine. I bought it because it was considerably cheaper than Odyssey.

I was under the impression that Panasonic made the Westco batteries that some people use. Didn't you have a Westco at one point, Cyclerob?

I've been using Panasonic for over 3 years now - no problem. Cant remember which model though...
It is not certified for vehicular use, but often used on electrical generators, that also vibrate quite a bit.

My Panasonic just died, a couple months short of 3 years. Some part my fault, during a long down time for repair, I neglected to put it on trickle charge. However, I think it would probably have not made it to spring anyway. I wanted an Odyssey but was unable to find one quickly locally, so put in a Westco.

I will just plan on replacing it sometime 3 years from now when I have the tank off!

BTW, my Panasonic worked fine for a few rides after the layoff but suddenly quit without a hint of impending failure. Just a headsup!

Batteries are like that, and I don't really understand it. I just replaced the battery on our GMC SUV. The battery was fully charged but it did not seem to have enough power to crank a big 6.0 liter V8. The new one has 770 CCA vs. 600 for the OEM one.

Have you though about using a Westco AGM battery?
Have then in both my Beamers. Good stuff

Just before I install Panasonic, my OEM did just that. Go figure...
