New Member with a Question

Post by crewzzn88 »

Hello, new member here! Just demo a R12R today. The demo bike was an 07 R12R in Granite Gray. Must say, I'm very impress with this bike. Does everything you ask of it and more. Of course, I had to follow the saleman of the demo ride. Got it up to 60mph (boring), I know it could do MUCH more. One question, are the 07,08 and new 09's pretty much the same?

Welcome. Others typically know more but believe they are pretty much the same.

We test ride victims would love to hear how you managed to get out of the dealership without an RR attached to you.

AFIK, the only differences are options installed and paint schemes. I have a pre-release day 07 model. Took it on a 40 mile or so test ride and is stuck to my butt and followed me home!

You will love this machine.

Wasn't easy leaving! Here were some of my excuses.

The bike was a bit tall for me. I'm 5'5". ( half lie)

Didn't like hitting the horn button everytime I wanted to use the left turn signal button. ( another half lie)

Couldn't see myself on a bike with a white gas tank. ( Had a 09 on the floor. somewhat true)

I'm a Union worker, my contract is up in April. ( Very true )

O' hell, OK!! , I just called the salesman back this morning. Asked him to call me went a Black or Blue r12r

hits the showroom floor.

You guys are brutal on this forum.

Order the Low seat option

We all do that until our fingers get trained to German standards :-k

Oh... one other thing... You were correct in thinking the bike is capable of much more than 60mph. It is very comfortable cruising 75-90 and you will not realize how fast you are going unless you keep a close watch on the speedometer ! It also loves twisties and will merrily scrape off all the feeler pegs with abandon !

I believe can also order a 2009 with the "Lowering Kit" option at no extra cost.
Check with your dealer....I'm sure they will make it right for you.

"Didn't like hitting the horn button everytime I wanted to use the left turn signal button."

Some '09 BMW's, such as the K1300GT, have conventional turn signals. Ask the dealer if the R12R changed over.

"I'm a Union worker, my contract is up in April." Me too, and my contract is up in 62 days. Hope for better things now that we've had a change in DC.

Cheers, Tom

I was just at California BMW earlier this week and they had a white 2009 that was lowered. Very nice sales staff and shop.

Having tested bikes and cruised dealers my all week I know that a difference between an 08 and an 09 is that the 09 will have a disconnectable ABS system and The pricing in term of options will be different... No more "Package 1" !
Each options will be calculated separately as dealers told me.

Finally I bought a black 2008 yesterday for $13900 after taxes and registration with Pkg1 and ABS plus some generous pricing on BMW luggage systems... it's indeed a very nice and sturdy bike.
I am planning to make it a little more touring with some luggages, a windshield and a different sit among other smart accessories... probably also some extra headlights.

I don't like fairings on touring bike that's why I bought this bike... It's a roadster but also an all around bike.

On the BMW catalog They call it "The bike for those who have nothing to prove" this sounded sweet for me in first place. ;)

And by the way ! here is a.....
Breacking News !

Los Angeles is under heavy and sticky rain since already 2 or 3 days ! NO LUCK !
