BMW Motoradd(sic) Marketing and Good Will (HA) has declined to cover my repair of a Trans.output shaft seal on my '05 Rockster.Bike is 6 mos. out of Werranty and only has 10,000mi.it cost me $320.00,I feel that 10,000mi is too soon for this part to fail and consider it a defect.
This is my 5th(and last) BMW and all of them have given me some sort of problem.Of all the bikes I have owned( 14)during my 45 plus years of riding,A BMW is the only bike that has left me strandad on the side of the road,Twice so far.No wonder they let you buy Roadside assistance.

Sorry to hear that. There are so many other quality bikes out there that you would think BMW would want to take care of your problem so you would be a repeat customer.
I love my bike, but I keep my eyes open for other bikes in case this one takes a crap. You may want to see if you can go to BMW NA direct and see if you can get some satisifaction that way.

In all fairness, unless the oil is (quite literally) pouring out of the gearbox, it isn't worth repairing the seal.
A small weep of oil - while slightly disfiguring, is not a "dangerous" condition. You won't lose enough oil out of the gearbox to cause any damage (the seal sits above the oil level and thus it only gets wet when splashed, oil won't leak out when the bike is stationary), and the amount of oil that "might" fall on the tyre is less than a chain driven bike gets from a freshly lubed chain.
Obviously if you're experiencing more than a small amount then you do need to replace the seal.
Whether or not the seal is a "lifetime" product is a moot point and has been discussed to death on various fora!

3 years is enough time for a seal to fail regardless of mileage. Especially with an underused bike such as yours.

No offence but you do own your own tools right?
as that one is a very simple repair, takes less time than replacing the clutch
you might try looking up the BMW recalls to see if that had ever been listed

Ah but thats a moot point really my bikes have all clocked good miles with regular maintenance eg
