The horn on my 2002 r1150r is pretty pathetic. I needed to remind a cell phone user in a big SUV that I was there and I was embarassed and the tweet that came out of my horn! and he didn't hear me
What do you guys recommend to replace the OEM horn.
I installed a Stebel Nautilus Compact last year. It's one of the best safety upgrades I've done to my bike! It will also fit in the stock horn location, you'll just need to fabricate a small bracket for it.
Good luck with the search!

Same here. Rattle-canned the galvanized bits flat black to make it less noticeable. Used "Home Depot engineering" to create a bracket for it in the same spot as the OEM horn.

The Stebel I bought comes with a relay and a wiring diagram. It is fairly simple -- one side of the relay goes directly to the battery, and the other side goes to the existing horn wires.

Although they look very similar, the Wolo from Harbor Freight is rated at 118db. The Stebel is rated at 139db. I haven't heard these side by side, but that is a huge difference! 118db is not that much louder than a stock horn.
+1 for Stebel Nautilus, I have one on each of my bikes.

I recommend upgrading the relay that comes with the horn when you install it (Radio Shack). My horn gave up after long ride in driving rain (I've got my horn mounted where my OEM had been). The relay crapped out.

O'Reillys Auto Parts = Fiamm horns=loud for cheap, with easy install in same location as OEM-just solder on the included connectors. No need to play choo-choo train!
