Installed mine from Beemerboneyard today. Very simple, even with a full fuel tank. Here's how I did it - in about a half hour:
1) Press the metal disconnect tabs on each of the two stock plastic Quick Disconnects to separate them. You now have four plastic Quick Disconnect (pQD) components attached to the end of four fuel lines - two lines lead to the tank, two lead toward the motor. Note that one tank-side fuel line has a male pQD and the other one has a female pQD.
2) Loosen the four clamps that secure the four pQD to the four fuel lines. (I'd previously swapped my stock clamps for removable Fuel Injection type clamps. Stock, crimp style clamps need to be cut open (without damaging the rubber fuel line) with a wire cutter or similar tool.
3) At this point you want to do something to prevent fuel spilling from the two tank-side fuel lines after you remove those two tank-side pQD's. I used a small vice-grip pliers to clamp the fuel line and it worked great. After removing the pQD and swapping in the new metal Quick Disconnect (mQD) , I moved the vice-grip to the other tank-side line.
4) Use a small screwdriver to free the male fitting of the pQD (where it inserts into the rubber fuel line) from the fuel line. Be careful not to tear the rubber fuel line. Pull the pQD out of the fuel line.
5) Slip a new metal Fuel Injection type clamp (included) onto the fuel line and then insert one of the four mQD's.
6) Secure the Fuel Injection clamp, remove the vice grip and move on to the other of the two tank-side fuel lines.
7) The lower two pQD's are swapped in the same manner as the as the upper two but you don't need to clamp off the fuel line.
8) I put a small amount of rubber o-ring lubricant on the o-rings of the new mQD's prior to connecting them.
The new metal PQD's are a work of art! It's kind of a shame to cover them up with the R1150R's stock plastic shroud...
