Hello,
I was reviewing the work performed on my 2004 RR (recently purchased) during its 12K Mile (20K km) inspection and noticed something odd. On the Inspection check-off form, I can see that the spark plugs were not replaced and that there is a note there that says "every 60,000 km".
However both the service book and the repair manual CD I have for the bike say the plugs should be replaced at the 20K km service. So what is the general consensus? The bike has 14K miles on it currently with the original plugs AFAIK. With the cost of four new plugs only $34 from BeemerBoneyard, I figure it can't hurt to replace them, but I would like to know what the correct interval is.
thanks,
Frank

Re: Replace Spark Plugs at 12K Mile Service?
I have replaced mine at 12K and the old plugs still looked pretty good. It ran fine as well. Saw no real improvement other than what I probably imagined. There are some less expensive alternatives available to you. Many guys run autolites on the primaries and ngk's on the secondary. Total plug cost is under $10. I run them and am very satisfied.
Matter of fact I can go to the local Autozone parts store and they have my bike listed (04) and have the above plugs listed as direct replacements for the oem's.
