Laminaparawings

Post by Harvey King »

I live in Silverthorne Colorado. I work in Vail Colorado. In between is Vail Pass. I ride the Pass twice a day (weather permitting). On a good day I contend with reckless drivers, semi-trailer trucks and constantly changing wind conditions. I wear heated clothing in the morning and mesh in the afternoon. My sport bubble is nothing more than a hood ornament. After reading numerous windshield posts, I have decided on three items: 23" Parabellum, Aeroflow Tank Wings and a Laminar Lip. I would like to purchase one at a time. My question is, in what order? I would appreciate your input. Thank you.

Greetings to a fellow rock pile homie. I live in the southern rock pile but I know to which you speak on the wind and morning chill. Windshield first then the lip if the windshield is not blocking enough wind. I ride a Rockster and use a touring tall windshield. It helps but I am not in a still air bubble. The winglets may help. The reason I don't have a lip is in my setup the wind spill over does not let air in the chin vent unless I'm sitting tall, but if I crack the helmet shield I get air. On a hot day I want the air flow. (I don't get buffeting). Nice place you have to ride (except for the other folks).

Electric's in the morning and vented in the afternoon, can't say I have done that too many times here in Upstate NY. But I do commute year round and a good winscreen is the 1st thing you want. If you are like me and look over the windscreen when you ride, a lip may not be in the card's for you. The wing's are an interesting concept, will they block rain? That is about the only thing I want less of here....not that you guys would know anything about that

I have ridin with Cee Bailey's 22" euro, BMW standard, and BMW high tour with the single bracket. My current screen is a CalSci. The BMW touring is the best of that group. The 23" Parabellum is one I have my eye, my only concer was the fitment of the bracket with barbacks.

Good luck and keep us posted,
John

When I first got my 02' the windshield really buffeted me. I bought I LaminarLip. In fact, they didn't make one for the BMW touring screen so I sent them mine. A couple of weeks later I got my screen back with the Laminar lip. I tried it at various heights and felt no improvement at all. In fact a few positions made the buffeting worse. For me it was a waste of money and very ugly. It also added yet another layer to look at.

I bought a Corbin saddle that changed my riding position and my buffeting went away.
