So I got a Kisan signal minder. As advertised it installed in minutes, maybe even seconds. It was snap. Also as advertised it is a bit larger than the stock relay. My question is how do you remove the little bracket the original relay mounted upon? I can feel some type of latch or button but there is not enough space in there for my fingers to really work. Should I just dremel that sucker out? Suggestions?
That being said I am really looking forward to the running lights options, and not having to remember to turn off my turn signals!!
Once I get this sucker settled in I want to wire in the brake modulation option.
Thanks, Zeke
It was a quite a while ago, so I can't remember precisely how the bracket attached ...but... I remember I got the bracket out by sticking a straight metal pick in to press the tab, and then I could get it out. I don't remember if the bracket slid upwards or downwards once I had the pick inserted to press the tab.
Then, I stuck the original relay right back in, because my signal minder didn't work (bought used)... I wasted 10-20 minutes figuring out how to remove that bracket... then I had to put it right back in.
I was dreaming when I wrote this, forgive me if it goes astray...
The plastic bracket slides down into the fuse box. I fished mine out with needle nose pliers. You'll need a long very thin bladed screwdriver to release the tab. Best oilhead mod you can do!
The OE signal module bracket slides into a channel from below. There's a release tab underneath the little "seat" that supports bottom of the OE module... you can reach it if you've got skinny long fingers and have already removed the OE module (held in place by the top tab).
Once released, the OE bracket is pushed downwards to release from channel. Be careful that you're ready to grab it an withdraw from the fuse box, or it will take some fiddling with long needle-nose pliers to remove.
Down not up. Bros, just between us here, I totally should have got that one on my own. Thanks for the assist. Popped that little bracket out and now the minder is held somewhat firmly in place with that little patch of Velcro they were nice enough to include.
