Sheepskin seat cover

Post by Matts »

Anyone have any experience with sheepskin covers. Own a tall stock seat and butt does get sore after an hour or so of riding. Sheepskin seems like an inexpensive alternative to after market seat.

Band-aid at best. Spring for a custom seat. I went with Russel Day Long and will always use their seats from now on. They are worth the big dollars, I do some Iron Butt ralleys and it's perfect.

Cut from a Sheepskin that I am using in my car, keep my butt warm in winter and cool in summer. SOFT AS HELL.

No Fancy work. Just punched two holes, ran string into it and mount it to the seat.

If you ran into rain, pull it off. Otherwise, you will be sitting on a wet rag like!!

No need to spend a lot of money on seat and get off the bike sometime, hourly. Your butt will feel better.

I once sat on one driving a 75 Suzuki GT380 from L.A. to Alabama. It was soft to sit on.

BUT...ride your bike more and you'll get use to your stock seat.

After riding through Monument Valley in 105 degrees I purchased a Alaska Leather sheepskin cover. I always ride in jeans and the extra insulation between the black plastic seat and my butt really helps in hot weather.

I have a Sargent seat but the thing that really transformed the comfort for me was replacing the pillion with the cover (71 60 7658542). Not cheap I am afraid but it made a huge difference - moved my butt back to the widest part of the Sargent, changed the position of my body over the foot pegs.

The roundness of the stock seat can cause more discomfort than the foam. If one looks at aftermarket seats, the width and flatness stands out.

Some swear by the Airhawk.

A Beadrider could be a cheaper solution, as the beads massage the pressure points on the under arse bones.
One of these solved my pillion issue when my kid was a regular passenger.

+ 1 on the Alaska Sheepskin pad. I use mine on two bikes, makes a huge difference in my experience-the difference between being able to ride all day or not.

Alaska Pad is expensive but it is cheaper than custom seat and Custom seat is not a guaranty.

Bead cover seat, ??? I used to have in my car. Not any more.

With all the fancy seats and covers, You need to get off the bike and get some blood-flow to the butt.
