Post by ornk »

I have a 1150 r with abs. I havent used the machine since 2007. I drained the fuel tank back in 07. Recently I asked my dealer how much it would cost to make it road ready again. He said that he said he would most likely have to replace the fuel injectors and the fuel pump. I know for sure that I need a new battery. Is he dealer telling me the truth?

I agree, I think he was giving a quote for what could be damaged. I would go ahead put a few gallons of fresh fuel in it, charge the battery and see if she fires up. I know that when I got my bike it had been sitting for at least 2 years. If it is running well then just change the fluids and enjoy another 10 years out of it.

I would try:

New battery

2 gals new fuel

see what happens!

My LT had been sitting a few years WITH fuel in it, so it needed old fuel drained, a new fuel pump /filter and battery to get running.... no injectors.

You probably know this but to be sure----don't turn your ignition on until you have some fuel in the tank. Fuel pump will immediately try to pump fuel as soon as the switch is on. Without fuel in the tank the pump will damage itself quickly. The fuel cools the pump.
