Brake Service - New Brake Hose?

Post by willyroyale »

Im embarking on my first all-round service of fluids, brakes, etc. I will be replacing the brake fluid. Whilst I'm at it I might be tempted to upgrade the brake hoses with Goodridge steel brake hose kit from Motorworks (UK)

Question is - is it worth the cost and effort- kit approx £150 / $230?

Any tips on the procedure?

thanks/

I replaced all of the brakelines on my '02 R in April of this year, with aftermarket braided stainless lines .
That's pretty close to what I paid for all of the lines, four lines for the front and one for the rear .

I had a front brake line failure, the hose that goes from the 'splitter' where the ABS would connect, to the front wheel, failed at the swaged fitting, seems like, at least on my bike, when the bike is parked on the centerstand and the fork locked to the left, the hose was tensioned .
Had the appearance that the line was just a bit too short for the application .
If the business you get your lines from has this option, you can use one line from the master cylinder to the splitter on the lower right fork leg .
You eliminate the 'splitter' where the ABS would connect to .
I didn't realize this when I got my lines, cost is a bit less and one less thing to go bad in the brake system .
