thanks
that is where i ended up routing mine as well. drilled a hole on each side of the fender guard, just behind the hyperlites, pulled the wires through those holes. There was already a hole on the underside leading up into the tool compartment so i pulled the wires into there and made my connections. I still need to use some electrical tape to clean up the job but it is functional and looks clean from the rear of the bike now.
I took off the license plate light when investigating for places to route the wires, broke the darn bulb. so i will be looking for a license plate bulb today so that i can ride to work tomorrow. this is my primary transportation during the week.
I left the green wire unclipped, which leaves the hyperlites flashing when the brakes are applied. i'm going to leave it that way for now.

Is there any more detail to this installation? I just purchased the bracket that installs with the license plate which provides a place to put the hyperlites but haven't gotten any farther than that. A few photos of the install would be nice... any of those out there?Hiker wrote:Old posts never die. Thank you guys. I'm working on this today...

Munch,
My apologies, I don't have pics tonight, but I did what jimbo did. After mounting the bracket, and then the lights to the bracket, I drilled a small hole behind the license plate on each side and pulled the wires through those holes.
There is a small hole in the tool storage area that you can pass both these wires through. At that point they just go to the tailight housing, since there is room for them to pass under the lens. I got some of that plastic wire harness covering so that the exposed wires under the fender would have some protection and called it a day.

Ps, you really have to press those weird connectors they give you all the way down until the red part is flush with the clear, or no worko.

I'm in the process of reinstalling mine. I left the wires somewhat exposed and want the cleaner look that the previous posters suggest. I'm taking a few photos of the process and will post them tomorrow if you're interested. Let me know.munchmeister wrote:A few photos of the install would be nice... any of those out there?

This is how I installed mine on the roadster :
Remove the red glass of the tail light :

Guide the 2 wires through this space downwards...

... and they will show up here, at the back fender :

And here you can attach them :

No drilling necessary, a 30 minutes job
Greetings from Brussels.

I'd be interested in the photos, and this seems like it would be an oft searched for thread, in the future. Thanks !!taosports wrote:I'm in the process of reinstalling mine. Munchmeister,
I'd try Hans' technique first and see if it works for you. Seems to be the cleanest install in that no drilling is necessary. I tried to route my wires in the same way, but it didn't work so I ended up drilling one small hole behind the license plate and routing the wires up through an existing hole in the small under rear seat storage area. This is what Ratbastard, Jimbo and Hiker did. Anyway, if you still want photos of my install just let me know.
