I've been poking around the "K1200R" portion of the www2.i-bmw.com site. On page 3 of the site I found a post of the BMW's "Marketing Information Bulletin" which was very interesting. This is the first MSRP/dealer cost pricing info I've ever seen on BMW's. Looks like the retail (invoice) price is 14.5 percent higher than the invoice ($14,250 MSRP & $12,443 "Dealer Net"), which the data sheet also says includes freight and PDA (which I assume is "partial dealer assembly"). The mark-up on the optional equipment looks to be about the same, but may vary a bit (looks to be a bit higher, maybe 14.7 percent.
All in all, very in line with most auto invoice/retail percentages. Used to be I new that Ford & GM used the same invoice/retail percentage markup on all of their products, so I would think it likely BMW would do the same. I think Ford used to use the exact same 14.5 percent as a matter of fact. I believe the Japanese manufacturers have a smaller invoice/retail percentage split.
Not sure the info is worth much, as market forces will determine the price the dealer will sell for, but I always like to no the split going in. It is interesting that the data sheet explicitly says that freight & PDA is included in the base price.

From BMW Motorrad USA own website:
http://www.bmwmotorcycles.com/machine/m ... del=k1200r
Bottom right portion of page states: MSRP includes distribution and handling charges...
Actual price is determined by dealer.
I could have bought a strippy from one of my local dealers for more money than I paid for my fully optioned one that I purchased out of state, and that includes shipping of more than 2500 miles!
