I have been in a the market for a new helmet and finally decided on a Schuberth. When I got ready to buy it, I found out that they are becoming a rare commodity in my neck of the woods (Colorado). I called Helmet Harbor to place an order. There, the customer rep informed me that they had not received a shipment from Fairchild Sports (USA distributor for Schuberth) for about 1.5 months. He does not know when, if ever they will get a shipment. He was obviously very frustrated with the situation.
In his estimation Fairchild Sports is on the brink of bankruptcy. They have already lost the distribution rights to other products (Held included). I am not able to directly collaborate his statement, but when I visited a local dealer, they had only a handful of helmets on display and it was their entire inventory. When I asked the salesman, I was told Fairchild was in the process of re-negotiating their distribution agreement with Schuberth and no helmet shipments were expected until the issue was resolved.
I am curious if anybody can confirm or deny what is going with Fairchild Sports. I also wanted to post this information for those who are looking into buying a Schuberth helmet. There might be a shortage of these helmets in the horizon.
