Want Ohlins ? ?

Post by israel »

Please let them know ! !

This from the horses mouth:

I have been told that we shall build conventional dampers for the R1200R
model. No "electric controlled" ones.

I have anyway NO production date available for the new ones at the
moment.

Best Regards,

Johan

Please email [email protected] If you have interest, it may help to at least set a production date....

I have ESA on mine and the ohlins is what I miss the most from my old R, second the city lids for my system cases.

I guess it is too early for a group buy...... Would it help production if we ordered as a group????

If the Ohlins were an option I didn't hear about it when I bought my bike. I most likley would have gone that way. I keep hearing good things about Ohlins shocks . Only good things. I HAVE wondered if after spending the money on Ohlins people are reluctant to admit their money could have been spent better else where.
My dearership employee didn't know my R1200R had twin plugs either so he may have not known about the upgrade shocks.
I do not have ESA on mine.

Well I see they're not listed on the BMW web site as optional equipment. At one time, a month ago, I'm sure they were listed on the R1200ST as optional but they're no longer listed on the ST either.

On the ST they were listed as an $800 option. If you're buying a new bike you might still be able to get that deal.

I don't really see the need myself.

Ric,

The Ohlins are an $800 option on the R1200S.

I think pretty much everyone agrees that it is a huge mistake for BMW not to make that an option over the entire line, at least of boxers. I would much rather have the ohlins than the ESA.

BTW, I've enjoyed your posts, great to have you onboard.

I'll be going to Nashville to test drive an R1200R tomorrow morning if it doesn't rain.
Maybe I can become an owner soon !

I heard the money was best saved by not getting the ESA and buying aftermarket Ohlins. Probably the same holds true for the R1200R.

ESA is not available on the R1200S and the Ohlin option is the deal of the century, completely false savings if you do not order them with the bike. The R1200S at this time is the only Beemer that you can order the Ohlin option from the factory.

OHHH, count me in on an ohlins group buy for the R12R!!!!!!!! No ESA here either. Had it on my K1200R and gotta say was not overly impressed. Comfort was still hard and sport made me lose some fillings in my teeth.

And a magnificent machine it is. I would vote for the Ohlins option across the line.

If you guys want a deal on Ohlins, all you have to do is call San Jose BMW go to parts, Ext 5 and ask for a "Deans Deal" , part of the fun that they let me have as founder and former owner.

No ohlins available now. Soon I guess.
Meantime I got this from Wilbers:

From: "WILBERS - Info" <info>
Subject: Re: Wilbers USA Shock Info Request
Date: Sun, 14 Jan 2007 13:23:48 -0500
Hi Israel,

Thank you for your interest in the Wilbers shocks. Yes, we can supply
you with custom build shocks for your bike.

Thank you for giving me the opportunity to be of service.
Klaus Huenecke

They will run about US $ 1,500.oo
Unfortunately for me there is an ohlin dealer who will service and set up the shocks here in Guatemala......

There is a wilbers group buy going on at adventure rider forum......

Group Buy?

Post by Keyser Söze »

I just recieved this letter from Mike @ Ohlins:

Hi Paul,
I wish I could give you an accurate expected release date, but we don’t get that information until they have actually come up with a part # for the production line. They have not at this point, so all I can give you is to keep an eye on http://www.ohlins.com. Go under recommendation list and type in the exact bike. This site is updated directly from Sweden, so when shocks are available to order, you will find a part number there.
Regards / Mike

Also, I have found out that all emails supporting the development of the R12R Ohlins Suspension units should be sent to : [email protected] :smt111

I wonder whart is the difference in the size and value ( compression and damping ) between a stock R1200R shock and that of an R1200S?
