At least that is what all my neighbors were doing when I came in from my ride Saturday! First ride of the year without the liner in the jacket! Too nice a day to waste working in the yard!
My version of yard work is more like telling my son the grass needs mowing.
I'm going to miss him when he goes off to college in August! 3-year old lawnmower and I have never started it!

Was also just thinking just yesterday how great it is that spring is here. Could not resist parking my R (yes rather dirty after winter) in front of our yard and snapping a picture. Wife and I took a leisurely ride around our little town to check out how everyone else's yards are coming to life. I love the colors.
Spring you say? Heading into Winter here, but we're tough! We ride all year round and have trained the kangaroos to sweep the roads clear with their big tails!
I ride an R1150GS Adventure with sidecar. IBA #39193
I used to work on riding mowers/garden tractors years ago. I've seen this picture floating around on the internet years ago but never really looked at it. That appears to be a functional lawn tractor! I'm impressed!

A dozen rides on the interstate while the temps hovered near freezing or below made me yearn for spring more than at any other time in my life that I can remember.
I see my trees and bushes beginning to bud, I hear frogs and geese in the pond and wetlands near my house chatting away at night. I am sooooo happy spring is here.
I'm planning a 20k mile riding season this year. I can't wait.

On Saturday morning my petite pillion annonced she would like to go to the Bead Show in Harrogate and will we go on the Bike. So we loaded up and headed off in brilliant sunshine, at Thornhill we stopped and had an excellant lunch. Sitting at a table outside I had to keep reminding myself that we were in Scotland in March not on the continent in June.
Well fed and watered we continued South and almost froze to death on the A66 (should have kept my thermal linings in my jacket and trousers). The wind on the A66 had us heeled over like a yacht and the snow was starting to drift across the road, even with my heated grips on full my hands were numb.
I have never been so glad to reach Scotch Corner, where we had large coffees and a blast of the hot air hand dryer to thaw us out. The rest of the run down the A1 was cold and wet. Good humour and looking forward to a welcoming farmhouse b&b, a good meal and a few pints of Guinness in the village pub kept us going on our first trip this year.
The weather was much better for our return trip (snow thawing) on Sunday afternoon.
We got home in time for me to grab a bite to eat and have a kip before going to work.
The trees have been blossoming down here for a few weeks now. I completely neglected to get a shot of the beautiful cherry tree in the front yard. The little petals are all over the ground now like snow and the air here is filled with pollen and pine rosin dust. Its hell for asthma sufferers but just the most beautiful time of year to ride with temps in the 50s to 80s.
This is one of the last buds on my pear tree out back.
And also I have this nice peach tree right beside my rear deck that has just about lost all its blossoms already as well.
Not to fear! The many Hastas all over our yard are beginning to shoot forth in abundance.
I mowed grass today for the first time this season. Spring is actually pretty short here and we really have to savor it while it lasts. Summer is upon us quickly and then the greenery tends to overtake everything. Kudzu time in the south!
