Rick Mayer (seat guru) took a tumble at a track day outing earlier this week. An update on his site states that the incident is backing up his seat builds two weeks at this time, which means my build date of 5/15 will be moved closer to the end of May. No big deal, I can wait. The important thing is that Rick was not seriously injured. Get well soon Rick!!!!
Here's a post from Rick on another site.
This is Rick Mayer-Scott left this thread up for me to read and I don't think he would mind if I posted in his page.
thanks everyone for the good wishes, I am home and feel like I was kicked by a mean mule for an hour but it could all be much worse, I will post a page with more details and photos soon but here is the short version;
I had picked up the pace in the second session and was running some pretty good lines, brushing the pucks equally when I found myself coming into 10/10a about 10 mph too hot. The S flopped well side to side though and in a blink I was lining up the short straight to 11. I had drifted this exit once earlier but this time I was having to steer right way too far to keep the corner in sight. I think while turning right, I must have let the throttle up slightly and WHAM-airborn stage right. I remember the pain in my groin as I am going over the tank then the thud of the road on my left hip and shoulder. It was over in a second and I was laying on the track. I remember looking for my bike, then waving so as not to get run over.
damage; me-seperated AC joint (shoulder) fractured pubic bone (ouch) and sore everwhere.
gear; total loss to leathers, bohn armor, boots, helmet.
bike; not too bad, I had installed frame sliders the week before and they worked well-side fairing, front fairing, shift lever, PIAA light, and of course the left slider are toast.
As far as I can tell no other damage but I will let the dealer check it out to be sure.
Lesson; don't expect to increase your speed throughout the day on each turn at a track day. You may start the first session with most of the speed you will have.
I am sorry my mistake cost everyone some track time. I will give anyone at the track that day a discount on thier next saddle!
thanks again all
Rick
