I like my Parabellum but cannot compare it to BMW's touring shield. I have the medium height shield-21" I believe. I am only 5'8". I do get alot of noise though. The shield comes to about mouth level on me. I do like that it's fairly easy to take off and on. I leave the little side "L...

Brady, I had the day off that day and was taking a nice ride until that wind started whipping up. I really started getting scared a couple of times the wind was really pushing me hard. I stopped to refuel before I got home and it felt like the wind was going to knock the bike over! I was really happ...

You should get the tires balanced. I don't know if you are replacing both tires or just the one, but alot of cycle shops require a special adapter for the rear rim being that is a single sidearm mounted. I had to call several places around town before I found one that could do it. Good luck.

Blueing is part of the charm on these bikes. Pretty chrome pipes are for the cruiser crowd.

Some very interesting stories. I am 39 and bought a 2005 V-Star Custom a year and a half ago. Before that, it was a Yamaha dirt bike when I was a teenager. Loved the V-stars looks and low seat, but after riding it for 6 months my legs were hurting and back as well. I didn't think I wanted a motorcyc...

You may want to try the footpeg lowering kit and/or a higher seat. I had cramps in my upper inner thighs when I had a cruiser from my feet being out in front of me. Now I have the R with standard seating...no more cramping. I also have a Seargent seat which is wider and more "level" than s...

I will testify to feeling unstable in corners as well...at first. I was riding a lighter lower bike than the R last year. I was not quite used to the extra weight or being up higher on the bike through the corners. Now after 9 months of owning the R, I am feeling way more comfortable through the tun...

I would take the steps as well as put a charger on. My battery just died after a week and a half of sitting. The temps below zero will take a toll on the battery. I got back from the International Motorcycle Show in NY last weekend and went to start her up and it wouldn't. I will probably be buying ...

Good thread...I did mine today and most I found were just snug and I did replace about 6 or 7 that seemed too tight. One was really tight and starting to almost cut through. Next time I have the tank off I will check those as well. Better safe than sorry. With 70 degree weather today made for a good...

You will probably want to use premium. I am not sure about the 1100R, but 1150R calls for minumum of 89. I can tell you these bikes will run better with premium. The kickstand is easy. Pull backwards on the handlebars while you step heavily down on the centerstand and it will pop right up. I do not ...

I left mine all tied and just cut away the opening so there would be no wires outside the guards to give a cleaner less cluttered look. I guess it's a matter of preference because the hand guards and the instructions are for the GS anyway.

I have both. Throttle rocker w/velcro is what I use all the time. It help alot for around 10.00. The TM was on the bike when I purchased it and I have found it hard to get it set. Two people have shown me how it works and I guess it take a little practice to set it while riding.

I like the black...I actually took apart the headlight and painted it black and left the ring in the front chrome...really looks nice...I also painted the side plastic pieces that pop along the sides of the headlight as well. Sorry I don't know how to put any pictures on or I would. Can send an e-ma...

I don't know about the higher pressure, but make sure to have both wheels off the ground. The higher pressure probably could help the tire(s) from forming a flat spot.

I was going to ask the same question. I back off the throttle all the time to slow down before i use any brakes and down shift with the clutch in right before a stop. I hardly ever downshift through each gear and wind the bike down so to speak. I used to ride my dirt bike that way.
