I've also modified the brake pedal with a piece of flat aluminum stock.

Re: Has anyone ever tried one of these?

I use a throttle rocker (similar to what you show) on my K bike due to the extra spring tension on the throttle bodies. It takes a bit of adjusting to both the device and yourself to get it in the correct position so it doesn't interfere in local road riding. The K has a real cruise control for the ...

Re: Couple of well nuts missing...need a source to procure

Morning, I tried to record the startup with my phone but it sounded like a death metal song, lol. I think you are right, need to see what the fix entails. It doesn't last long, maybe 20 seconds, then goes away after I push down the high idle and rev it a couple time. Take the time to read the entir...

They look like the mirrors on my K12RS. That shape gives more coverage.

Re: Bike wont start after changing quick disconnects

Hi guys, Other things to note: Bike hasn't been started in about 2 months (winter). The fuel pump was making a progressively higher pitched whine as I tried to start it - meaning I would try to start it, it wouldn't, then as the pump built pressure back up after, it would have a higher pitch than t...

Re: tank draining question

Use the male end of the old QD on a hose and plug it into the female QD on the tank (you did install them in the direction of the originals, right?). No need to power the pump, the fuel will drain, just pop the cap for better venting. I just did this on my new to me R last week when I replaced the Q...

FWIW, there's a used SW Moto Engage bag with the mounting ring on the BMWMOA Flea Market.

Re: Access to Battery on R1150r

No, you have to pull the tank, it's not that big a deal. Good time to replace the disconnects if they have not already been replaced.
Tip, save one of the old male disconnects, add a piece of hose, and use it to drain the tank.

Re: Insurance

Another vote for Progressive here.
Be aware that insurance coverage varies greatly state to state. The deal I get from Progressive in Florida may not be the same in your state. I would specify your state and ask for home state recommendations.

Look for a fuel injector service center (think diesel equipment) locally before you buy new ones. They can clean and test yours for a fraction of new ones.

Re: fuel gauge or lack there of?

I've had my R for about a month, haven't ridden as much as I like due to some tendon problems and a walking boot. Like any bike I've purchased, I'll wait until the tank is low and strap a 1 gallon gas can on the rack. Note when the low fuel light comes on and run it dry. After gathering some mpg dat...

04 R1150R, lower pegs, shifter mod.

I find the seat to peg distance to be a bit snug on my knees, so I purchased a peg lowering kit from Suburban Machinery. They also offer a modified shifter (lengthened) for $140. One of the websites stated that only 50% of their customers required the modified shifter. Guess I'm in the other 50%! Th...

Re: HID?

I've not yet had the headlight apart nor the tank off. Looking at the Eastern Beaver website I see a water proof relay harness recommended for the GS, and bikes with a small headlight shell. Anyone using this one, or is there room in the shell for the relays?

Re: HID?

Another point that's given me some hesitation is that where it's a real projector and not just a bulb scattering light, there's a definite horizon cut-off when the lamp is illuminated. This could cause problems when leaned over as there will be a dark spot right where you're trying to look through ...

HID?

Is there room to use an HID in the roadster headlight shell?
It seems kind of shallow, and I don't know how much room is required for the Hi/low bulb mechanism.

Re: Tank Bags?

that link goes to a Cor-Tech bag. That is not the one we're talking about. Different mount also. But it looks touchless and may be fine--just no experience with that one. Let us know what you think. A nice thing about the bags-connection bags, specifically the engage bag, is that it curves to sort ...

Re: Tank Bags?

+1 on Bags-Connection. I use the Engage size on my 1150, and find it the goldilocks size for me. It would be the perfect size for what you describe your needs to be. Very durable. Very secure. At first I was a little concerend about the "horseshoe" connector that fits on the filler cap, c...

Re: Tank Bags?

Well it appears the magnetic bags work well on this bike. Obviously the same caveats regarding keeping the surface clean apply as they do with a strapped on bag. I like the idea of being able to remove it without fooling with the straps as I do on the K.
Shopping to commence.... :D
