r850r rear master cylinder

Holy cow...while changing the rear shock I accidently bumped into the rear master cylinder and BROKE off the plastic fitting that goes to the fluid reservoir. BMW does not sell the plastic fitting...only the complete master cylinder. $128.00
1 where can I buy this fitting?
2 why is such an important part made of plastic anyhow....

You might want to try the R1100R section, it's a very similar bike and has more traffic.

I was going to order the master cylinder from beemerboneyard but I found another site called EngelandMoto.com and paid $30.00. They have an asking price or "make offer" feature and I was able to get it for less. I installed it today and I'm back on the road.
