Yes, it fits . . . Try the stock muffler first, I think you be surprised how nice it sounds. A nice, deep, socially acceptable tone that'll allow your wife to enjoy the ride.
As far as aftermarket cans, there's 2 types: glass packed and mechanical baffle. The glass packed ones soon loose the packing and the sound changes . . . all too often, I think for the worse.
Mechanical baffle types are forever, but, models like the high quality stainless steel ($$$) StainTune from Australia sound nasal. Others can chime in with their fav's.

Most of the muffling is done with the cat, so try the original muffler and see how it goes.
I personnally have a full Remus system, and am happy with that.

Remus

I have a Remus, and it really is not loud (well to a Harley), I even took out the baffle, and it still is quite nice sounding. :D

Modifying the stock muffler (can only) is THE thing in Germany, because the TÜV* is superstrict in regards to any types of mods or aftermarket parts. No loud pipes without baffles in Germany - or most of Europe, for that matter. TÜV is so feared that our friends from our German sister board http://www.boxer-forum.de refer to them online only as the "Rennleitung" (race supervisors). If you go to that board, it may help to know that all boxers are often referred as the "Q" and the rider as the "Q-Treiber"... (long winded explanation :D ask if you dare...)

What exactly our freunde over there are doing is a secret, but for sure they are cleaning out some of the guts of that 13kg (28 lbs) stock can, and it seems to sound good.
