K Motor vs R Question

Post by motorcityrider »

I was considering getting a 2004 K1200GT. I haven't drove it yet but was wondering what are the main driveability differences between the R & K motors?

The K models (flying brick) handle and drive very nicely. Very sturdy and almost unbreakable bikes. They are just so much heavier than the R models ...

Kind regards

They are both excellent designs, but as OMG1010 mentioned, there can be a big weight difference. I believe that's even the case when comparing the RR to the KR. Test ride both designs and decide for yourself which one you like best. The GT is a very nice bike; the fairings will add weight over other BMW models, but it's a high-end performance tourer.

Aside from some FD failres on the earlier K's they seem to have better reliability than the R's.......
