Good input, BJ! Since I do have both (well, actually the R is my wife's, but she lets me ride it on occasion), I'll throw in my 2 cents... I totally agree with BJ on the versatility of the R. And it's an absolute hoot to drive quickly. But I still prefer the RT (I have an 1150RT) as my daily driver ...

Similar idea is the Throttle Rocker... http://www.throttlerocker.com/. I have both the ThrottleMeister and the Throttle Rocker on my RT... I rarely use the ThrottleMeister because the ability to just rest the edge of my wrist on the Throttle Rocker is good enough to keep the speed steady and my hand...

She is a little concerned about the weight of the RR and is looking for something that will cruise well but weigh maybe 100 pounds less. Does anythone have any suggestions? One thought... the BMW F650CS... essentially a street version of the similar engined GS. Low seat, light weight, and a good am...

Would it be possible, if the R-R has ABS, to simply tap into the ABS pulses in place of the speedo pulses?

Check out http://www.gear-indicator.com. Might be the same thing hirsty pointed out. Though there is no specific model for BMW's, supposedly it can be adapted to any bike with some wire splicing. Device uses speedometer and tachometer pulses to determine the current gear. Not sure what issues hirsty...

Thanks... I was of the same opinion (that it's not a big deal), so the response I got from swmototires.com was a bit of a surprise. Made it sound like the 'bike would explode if I tried to put different sized tires on it. They never did respond back when I asked "Why do you think it's a big dea...

Yep, I've got a K1200GT which has front fenders that extend down toward the bottom of the fork. The bottom ends of the fender attach down there. There are light mounting bars that attach to both the top and bottom tabs for mounting a variety of lights; one on each side. Nice setup... Unfortunately I...

Found this (older) thread via a search for this topic... I'm curious about the results of putting the different tire size on both front & rear from NHighCotton (or anyone else that has tried it). I was also considering putting the 120/60/17 on the front to help drop the bike a tad (only ~1/2&quo...

Vote # 4 for the baklava ... err ... balaclava. I had the same "brain freeze" problem even with all the vents shut on my Aiwa Quantum f, and a light fleece balaclava made a huge difference. The only trouble I had is that it got out of whack when I put the helmet over it, partially blocking...

Very unusual... would not want to go over the handlebars on that... it looks like the spine ridges would do some serious family jewel damage!

Looks like an inline 4 engine ... ?

Pretty cool visually though.

Yep, the brake servo whine is normal. A little bit of backfire is relatively normal (from my experience). I have a Remus exhaust on mine, and like the difference in sound it makes. Can't help with the radio... I had everything (speakers, antenna, wiring) but the radio. Don't mind not having it, actu...

Yep, the brakes take getting used to... it's definitely a learned thing (IMHO)... you'll have to figure out how to finesse the brakes at slow speeds... don't grab as much as you're accustomed to on the Harley... I feel I've got it down to an art... and it's not ABS, per se, that results in the brake...

Assistance request from Canadian folks...?

Hiya... I've run into an issue on my BMW car, a 1998 323i, which it appears I cannot get resolved without some assistance from a willing participant that lives in Canada... When I recently bought the car, the seller included a pair of aftermarket Hella headlights... these are "Euro spec" h...
